Fin aid was both helpful and unhelpful with me. On the one hand, they pleasantly dealt with an unpleasant situation (ex hubby not sending stuff in but lying to son about it) but on the other hand, they aren't exactly flexible for situations that do not fit within their guidelines.

chalked - when I called admissions, I did recieve a rather abrupt response and it seemed relatively bumbling; but when I emailed my area's admissions counselor, she was very nice and helpful.

(shrugs) I had an awful experience with Duke admissions too. >.<

"Decisions for Regular Decision applicants will be available online through the OPUS system, and will be posted on April 1st at 7:00 pm (EST)."
Says Emory's Admissions Website. =

7 pm
That's practically April 2nd

heres the link
Regular Decision

During my child's application process, we never found the Emory admissions office to be either "curt" or "unhelpful"--as we never found it necessary to contact them by telephone. Non-essential or non-emergency communications can often be interpreted as annoyances and can interfere with the important work being done by the admissions staff.

Thanks cbrochill. For some reason, I could NOT find that link lol.
A LOT of people are waiting on Emory this year- I am supposing the site is going to crash ;/

No kidding. Here's to hoping that OPUS is made out of some pretty strong stuff else it's going to go boom at 7:05PM tomorrow.

Pretty much every time Emory says things will be posted at some arbitrary hour, it ends up being posted at midnight anyways. I think they just say 7pm as to do a bit of load-balancing, but maybe they actually will wait until then.

The Emory website tells you how to check your decision in the following matter:
"CHECK YOUR DECISION ONLINE
To check your admission decision online, sign on to your OPUS account.
On the "Learner Services" main page, click the "Admissions" link.
You will find the link to "View Your Decision Letter" in the "Next Steps" section."
When I do this I don't see "View Your Decision Letter", it says:

Next Steps
Campus Event Registration
Course Catalog and Schedule
View Course Catalog
View Schedule of Classes

I have to click on "New Window" and a new screen opens with some of the options being:
Home
Catalog
Admissions
Events

I can expand "admissions" and this is where it has the "view admissions decisions" as one of the options. Along with:

Request Prospect Information
Schedule A Tour
Event Calendar1
Event Calendar2
Pay Admissions Deposit Online
Automated Application
View Admissions Decisions

If I click on "View Admissions Decisions" it states, "No matching values were found". I understand that admissions will not come out until tomorrow, but is anyone else having this same issue?

yeah I have the same thing

If I click on "View Admissions Decisions" it states, "No matching values were found". I understand that admissions will not come out until tomorrow, but is anyone else having this same issue?

I wouldn't call it an issue. Clearly, since your decision isn't online yet, OPUS can't find the "matching value" for you. I suppose you could call it a little glitch that it shows up at all.

I called Emory regarding my application for Emory Scholars -- they were sending me messages saying I did not turn in an application, but after I called them, they admitted that they lost it, asked me to send in my application once again, did not apologize, and matter-of-factly hung up.

However, I'm sure they've got good days and bad days, no doubt.

I was addressing the fact that I have to click on the "new window" to view the decision.

chalked- the same thing happened to me! they kept sending me letters and emails saying i was missing like everything! of course, the only time the office was open was during school... when i finally got through to someone they told me to fax it, thankfully i had printed out a reciept of my payment.. when i called the next day to see if they filed it yet, this grouchy old lady informed me that there were so many faxes coming through because of lost applications, that i wouldn't know for a few days...

i was very irritated!

Well, I got the decision notification email. Now I've just got to wait for 7PM. Alas.

You are fortunate that you did not have circumstances outside the ordinary. We did. I would have given anything not to have had to make the phone calls I made or have had to follow up because my ex husband refused to send his information. I understand and agree with their policies - that both parents should pay. However, I have NO control over what ex hubby will do - and I learned the hard way with #1 son that he will not contribute a dime to our children's education.

Does "Pay your admission deposit online" come underneath your "View the Decision Letter"?

Am scared to open........!!!

Opened it....

Got in. :D
