Think you know about scholarships?

What scholarships should i be looking at with these credentials (keep in min im interested in BU which has its own set of scholarships i guess):

GPA: 3.45 (progression)
SAT (so far): 1930
AP/College courses: 9
- 9th grade: AP Computer Science A - 4
- 11th Grade: AP BIO - 4
- 12th Grade: TBD

President of largest club in school (DECA)
Good recommendations

Poetry Awards

What is your M+CR?

I’m not sure that a 1930 would get much from BU.

As for private scholarships, those are often small and only for frosh year…won’t help you pay for 4 years.

Its a 1270
CR: 560
M: 710

What do most colleges like to see in academics / programs outside of school for scholarships

Colleges typically like to see high test scores, and a high GPA (at least a 3.5). If they only have a few scholarships to award, then they may look at ECs to further down-select and determine who should get the scholarships.

Usually ECs do not make up for inadequate stats…they just help determine which high stats kid should get the award.

Go to the Boston University website. They have a nice clear way to figure out merit aid awards from the school. To be honest, I’m not sure you would get very much from BU in merit aid. Your scores on the AP tests will not factor into this at all.

I have a question too, please, help me if you have enough time and are able to answer me…
Well, Im an international student and trying to study in Grinnell college. Can you tell me what are my chances to be admitted with full-ride scholarship?
My SAT score is 2040(verbal+math=1360)
GPA 4.0
Head of student council
Captain of my school at intelectual contests
Gold medal candidate
Volunteer job 100 hours
Third place at national studying olympiad in my country(in one subject)
Winner of many contests
Played basketball
Playing the piano(graduated from musical school with honor diploma)
Danced national dances at choreographic ensemble and so on
I think I will have really good recommendations from teachers, etc
My family cannot really pay for my studying even 10000$, I need full-ride scolarship
Please, estimate my chances…

Kurt…politely…I would suggest that you start your OWN thread instead of hijacking the threads of others. This particular thread is dealing with Boston University merit aid…not Grinnell…I’m not being snarky…but really I think you will get better answers in your own thread about the topic of Grinnell financial aid…not by adding this (repeatedly) in other threads.

Thanks thumper
