Thinking about applying ED...

but is it too big of a reach?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of applying ED to Columbia College, and I would like to know if it's too big of a reach for me. Can you also give me any suggestions/tips on the essay/app in general, thnnnx.

THANK YOU GUYS SOOOO MUCH <3333

^ you're quite a balanced candidate, sat 1 in fine, sat twos could be higher, but nothing hits me when i read that summary, if you're an incredibly interesting person in real life and that shows through, you could receive a thick envelope, i don't see any real weakness in that profile, but chances are slim

thx confidentialcoll!

i have a question tho: i want to go do consulting/finance/ibank sort of stuff, should i apply to CC and major in Econ or SEAS and major in financial engineering?

it seems that alot of SEAS ppl end up on wall st, and i don't mind the science courses, so if it's easier to get into SEAS...

it isn't really easier to get into either one, but decide what you want, FE is more mathematical than econ, more competitive, caters solely to wall street, but at seas you aren't guaranteed getting into the FE major, it's new, and there's high demand so people apply and the best are taken, all other majors are not like that i think, if you end up in seas and don't make it FE, you can always do operations research with an econ minor, OR is quite mathematical and leaves with a well rounded set of skills. If you ask me, none of this matters for much, consulting/i bank firms don't care much what major you do (as long as it's somewhat quantative) they realize that there is little overlap between college academic stuff and work in the financial world, they want smart, quant thinking, industrious kids, simple as that. applied physics works if that fits your bill. so choose a major that you like and will do well in, if your bent on wall street then something like art history by itself would put you at a disadvantage.

guys, do u think its a likely deferral? or reject?

hey dead_crocadile..u from vancouver? me 2. I m in churchill IB . also want to apply to Columbia ED. PM me~

pm'ed. bumpppp~
