I have been thinking about applying to MIT for a while now, as my best subjects are math and science, but i wanted to know if i had a chance.

I want to major in chemE and i think MIT would be good.

My grades in school arent great. Im an a/a+ student in math and im taking bc calc currently. I got an A in regular biology (which is the only class my school offers besides ap) and i plan to take ap bio senior year. I got an a+ in regular chemistry and i self studied ap chem and got a 5 during sophomore year. I am taking physics c and i received an a+ first quarter. the problem is my english and history grades. I am a b+ student in english but a b student in history.

I just wanted to know if these grades will really hurt my chances at mit. some input would be greatly appreciated.

btw, i think my sat scores will be somewere in the 2300s, and my sat2 scores were 710 on bio, 800 on chem, 800 on math 2c and i plan to take physics and i should get an 800.

i also plan to take a few olympiads, mainly the amc 12, aime, hopefully usamo and the chemistry olympiad, which i think i could do well in.

i have taken 2 ap tests, stat and chem. and i am takin bc and phys c this year. thats all the academic information, and i have some extra curriculars that i guess i will mention.

math team for 4 years including next year (captain next year)
Liberty in N Korea club for 3 years (President for 2)
Asian club for 4 years (President next year)
International club for 3 years
and volunteer service at a hospital for a year
and columbia shp, which is fairly selective

thats it for my EC's, and i guess thats all i have to say. thanks to anybody who takes the time to read this post and gives me some feedback.
