Thinking about dropping out and joining the army?

Umm, we did this once before, then the rest of the world that agreed with your line of thinking started whining and another World War broke out. Would you like a repeat? I can hear all the countries of the world now that are conveniently ignoring poor parts of Somalia, Darfur, Haiti, China, India, Rwanda, etc. suddenly blaming us for leaving and THAT’S the real reason they haven’t been able to get to accomplishing anything for the past 10-20 years. I’m sure of it UN.

No. While true many join for money, you can always join the national guard, reserves, navy or air force and have a far lower chance of being thrown onto the battlefield. Again, while those who are that fearful and cling to your comfortable lives so much that you can’t understand the reasons people would lay down their lives for a cause, maybe one day you’ll find some direction that will give you some real conviction, not faux confidence based on judging others.

As it is now the only thing keeping the UN in their de facto position is the US and its army, besides that the UN is a joke. Iran and NK both laugh them off, and for some reason after a successful Gulf campaign showing the benefits of multilateral institutions using a combination of soft and hard power, the rest of the world decided to let us solo all of their problems.

You’re posts have the subtleties of hailing the UN and similar institutions as some type of bastion for peace and the apex of multilateral cooperation. In all actuality, the UN isn’t even willing to step in and help poor, impoverished nations, and prevent even smaller crises’ like when we had to go into Port au Price, though we had alternate reasons for that too.
