Thinking about dropping out and joining the army?

Why? Every taxpayer in America is indirectly complicit in the war in Iraq in some way. My disdain is mostly reserved for the people who make the decision to pull the trigger.

Pandem, if you had an argument to make, you’d do more than use ad hominems and quote me out of context.

I don’t have an argument to make. You’re the clown who’s gone from “I considered joining the military” to “it’s an illegal act” to “every taxpayer in America is complict…”. You’ve lied about your intentions one too many times. Welcome to the real world, where people stop taking you seriously after the first.

Exactly. This thread’s had a number of serious debates (those three positions are all on separate issues, how is that contradictory?) and all you’ve done is hurl insults.

Because you almost can’t blame the military for lowering its standards when the country’s leaders ask that more men be thrown into the meat grinder. The Iraqi war is the Bush administration’s fault, not the military’s fault.

“My disdain is mostly reserved for the people who make the decision to pull the trigger.”

3.17 GPA, no ECs…yea I guess you would know better.

In what world is 3.17 below average and ECs an objective measure of intelligence?

Nothing is objective.

But I certainly don’t respect the overzealous opinion of a below average student who has no experience with the real world.

In what way am I below average?

I’m assuming 3.17 is your gpa? That’s hardly a good gpa, average at best. It wouldn’t mean much to me, except for the fact that you also have no extracurriculars.

Not that I’m surprised. From this topic and the few other posts of yours I’ve glanced through, it’s pretty obvious that you’re a teenage liberal who thinks they know how the world works without actually BEING in the world.

Well when I was young my dad would tell me about how my grandparents had to flee from the Spanish military, the military of their own country. So from a young age I’ve been distrustful of soldiers. Happy?

And that’s why you considered joining the army? Again, you lied to cover your true intentions. If you want anyone to take you seriously, avoid it like the plague.

I did not lie. I was considering the army out of fear for my grades due to this site.

So while you’ve despised the military your entire life, the thought of joining still crossed your mind?

Try harder.

Yes. Try harder at what?

Try harder to come up with a believable story. You’re not fooling anyone.

You’ve gone to a stalker-like obsession with me. I suggest logging off and getting some sleep.

Yes, because I’ve been sitting on my computer only to respond to you. This is the only topic, and the only website, that I visit on the internet.

Stop feeding the ■■■■■, kiddies.

LeviG-if you’re trying to provide “fair and balanced” info on the army, provide some good instances too. Otherwise you’re just as bad as the media in being biased and spin-based.

If what you’re saying is true, I understand your bias against the media. But what you’ve done hasn’t helped anyone. Find recent, relevant articles. Present them in a level-headed, calm and collected manner.

The problem with your post is that you seem (note the “seem”) arrogant and cocky without knowing anything about the military.

Quite frankly, I don’t know enough about the war to have an opinion. But I have had family in law enforcement and in the military, and I will always support them.

Now yes, there are people that abuse their power and do things they shouldn’t. But I think that a good percentage of our troops really want to make a difference.

Next time, try actually providing some balance.

ivaw.org/

Here’s some soldiers doing good things.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

Do you even care that you’re making yourself seem (again, note the word “seem”) like an arrogant and naive jerk?

You’re entitled to your opinion about the war. But first of all, this is not the place. And secondly, you might want to do something besides sit on the internet and whine. Be like Cindy Sheehan and speak about why the war is wrong. Be sure and talk about your family members who have been personally victimized by the Iraq war.

Oh, wait…

And if you don’t care that you’re being ridiculous, think about this: if we pulled out of Iraq right now and brought every soldier home, the Iraqi economy would collapse. We’re going to get out, but it’s not going to happen overnight.
