Thinking about Law School...

So recently I have begun entertaining the thought of going to law school. I don't really know what else I would want to do, and after doing some research, I could see myself enjoying a career in law. My problem is that I'm not so big on attention and public speaking, so I'm not sure if being a trial attorney would be good for me. Are there other careers in law (that would make the expense of law school worthwhile) that would keep me out of the courtroom? I know this sounds stupid (why go to law school if you don't want to be in court?), but for some reason I like all of the other aspects...

help?

Not all lawyers are the ones you see on TV(trial lawyers). Lawyers do a lot of different work.

i'd venture to say most lawyers rarely try cases or go to court.

Your post sounds a little confused. To paraphrase, you see yourself enjoying a career in law, but don't think you'd like doing what it is you believe lawyers spend their time doing. You say that "for some reason I like all of the other aspects," but give no indication that you have any idea of what those other aspects are.

I'd say you're putting the cart before the horse. Figure out what it is you like doing, and figure out if there's a way to get people to pay you enough to do that to satisfy your material needs.

Lots of people who "don't really know what else [they] would want to do," go to law school by default. Three years later they find themselves deep in debt, and no surer about what they want to do with their than they were when they started, other than having crossed "practicing law" off the list. No one should go to law school without a clear idea of what attorneys do, and enough self knowledge to be sure that it's what they want to do with their lives.

I totally agree. I would advise anyone who is contemplating law school to intern in a law office or two.
