I've been looking into the freshman summer program, and it's about $5,000. Is this worth the money, and will it help save any money overall?

I really want to graduate early if I can, so I plan on taking summer courses at the school for the next few years anyway. My family isn't getting much in financial aid, so I'm trying to save as much money as possible. I just want to know if the program will help me do that.

Hey Yeah!
Well, I’ve sort of been debating the same thing, since I’m on the same boat as you. Even though the Summer Program seems awesome and all, $5,000 IS a lot of money. The thing is, you’ll be getting around ~9 credits for the summer, which is OKAY. One thing to consider though is the pace of the course. You’re planning on taking quarter-long courses (roughly 10 weeks worth of material) in a matter of 6 weeks, which basically means that you get the material in half the time. As such, this results in the class going twice as fast as it normally would, so, if you really aren’t prepared to move forward FAST, I would consider not doing it. AGAIN, this is merely my opinion and I’m sure there’s someone out there who can provide a contrasting point of view, and I surely would like to hear it.

I agree with the previous post. If you are not ready for the pace don’t do it. The quarter system alone goes by really fast, cutting it to a few weeks takes dedication.

I think you should do it because the fast you get in, the fast you get out and graduated from this school. Also, It’s inevitable that the quarter system is gonna be fast, get used to it earlier, so you wont have to complain about it later.

In terms of graduating faster, I’m not sure how cost-effective FSSP is.

But everyone I know who did FSSP loved FSSP. To this day, many still say it was the best time of their college lives. It’s a totally different, more intimate environment where “everyone knows everyone” and everyone lives together in the same building. When the rest of us got into school, the FSSP kids were the ones with the connections and the know-how.

To those that have already taken FSSP, how many units did you guys take for the summer?
Would taking three 4unit classes be too much to take on? Are the freshman seminars helpful in any way?
