Thinking about transferring to Cornell?

Ok, well I'm already enrolled and all to Rice University, and im going to major in Biochemistry.

I live in New York, and I am about 2 hours away from Cornell.

Now, I'm considering transferring to Cornell after the first semester of my freshman year. Now don't get me wrong, I love Rice and what it has to offer for a pre-med like myself. The fact of its proximity to TMC is tough to beat!

I would want to stay at Rice, but mostly because of my parents and some favorable differences in Cornell's curriculum I'm considering transferring.

Are there other aspects where Cornell is better than Rice? like financial aid....pre-med...people....living environment?

any more reasoning i can get for this decision, the better. so thank you!

Go spend some time at Rice first, then talk to us.

rice tends to admit in-state valedictorians and salutatorians…

not sure if they do the same for out of staters…

can anyone verify this?

the transfer application is due when rice’s year is only one month in. i cant make a decision and start my application in one month, plus have to deal with college. I wanna know a little heads up now.

Cornell very rarely accepts transfers who have only completed one semester of coursework. You’ll more than likely need to complete your entire freshman year at Rice (ie. submit your transfer app in March and get your decision in May/June…then enter as a sophomore at Cornell).

From the admissions website:

oh wow i didnt even read that! grrr that messes up my plans…

good catch dewdrop…

:)

haha…transfer admissions is where I (most of the time) shine :)
