Hey guys, so my school's engineering program is very competitive and there's a chance that I won't get accepted as a transfer into the engineering program. If that were to happen, would it be a problem if I were to instead major in Applied Math and take some MechE classes? Would MechE grad schools or the MechE industry still accept/hire me? I ask about MechE grad school because I realize getting a job as an engineer without an engineering degree could be difficult, so I know that grad school may be my only option. Thank you.

Getting a job that way is… iffy. It will depend on the position in question. Graduate school ought to be just fine though in most cases as long as you have the grades and recommendations.

Yea, I thought getting a job would be iffy, that’s why I was mentioning grad school even though I’ve technically never even taken an engineering course yet… I’ve read some of your posts on here boneh3ad and know you know what you’re talking about, so I value your opinion. I’ll talk to my adviser later this week.
