Thinking of double majoring, please help!

I am locked in on majoring in Sports Management. I would like to get some type of career in the sports industry and at the moment I am focusing on the direction of Sports Writing (social media, websites, papers, etc.).

What other major would be most beneficial for me, Political Science or Communications?

Thanks!

Either one - communications would seem to be more relevant to your interests, though.

Be advised that it is deemed rather difficult to get work in the business of sports outside of sales (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ohio-university-athens/1880220-ohio-university-sports-management-new-thread.html). Be prepared to have to widen your net from the very narrow area of sports writing to non-sports industries and/or to sports (or other) sales to get employed upon graduation in a timely way.

The higher prospects for business operations managers generally than for journalists and writers generally (http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_table_102.htm) - and you should think in general terms - make me think you should amplify the business part of your education. I suggest you take extra classes in marketing and/or business administration, which may easily amount to a double major given that Sports Management should include the basic courses in these areas. Information Systems should be included in your coursework to make you more marketable.
