Thinking of trying to transfer...but I have these considerations.

Hey y'all.

Right now I am at Texas A&M University at Galveston. It's a nice school, but it does not offer any degree that I would be interested in. The two schools I am interested in transferring to are UT and the main campus at Texas A&M.

Here is my concern: I want to qualify for in state tuition. I am from Colorado unfortunately. Right now, being in the "Cadet Battalion" here at TAMUG is giving me an in state tuition waiver, but obviously if I transfer to UT that wouldn't continue. A&M's Corps of Cadets is far harder than what I'm in now, and I'm not so sure that it's for me because I'm finding what I'm in now to be pretty damn hard!

I've read the residency FAQ and I need to find out if I am being considered a dependent or not. But assuming I am, what is the best way to get a tuition waiver? I REALLY want to stay in Texas anyway. Some other threads have mentioned getting a scholarship of $1000 or more gives you a waiver, but does that include grants? How hard are these scholarships to get? And are they open to transfer students?

Thank you VERY MUCH for a response =)

Oh and for admission purposes, since I am a transfer student, am I still at a disadvantage out of state?
