Currently on the waitlist for UCI and UCSD, rejected to Cal, accepted UCR. However, there is a slim chance of me going to UCR due to 1. I’d rather still go to a Cal or UCI, and 2. their financial aid wasn’t really that good.
I’ve taken community college courses since my HS 10th grade year, and I already have my IGETC done and am only a few units off of degree recognition. Unless UCI admits me off of the waitlist, I’m probably going to go to the same CC I attended in HS, and do my major classes, then transfer.
My GPA in CC already is above the required GPA for TAG, so would it be a good idea to do my major prep courses and then get in using TAG? I read that my major classes weren’t required for transfer admission to UCI, but would that same thing apply if I applied with TAG? Sorry, still trying to navigate my way through this whole process, could use any possible help
I’m in a REALLY similar situation to you. From what I understand you don’t need to finish the major prep classes in order to be eligible as a regular transfer applicant but you do need to complete them in order to apply for tag. I’m not completely sure about the courses which are required to finish the major in 2 years and wether we have to finish those in order to be eligible to TAG.
@Gumbymom Okay, thank you so much!! Hopefully I won’t need to look into it further (hoping I get off the waitlist this year), but it’s good to always prepare.
