We all hear stuff about how second semester senior grades don't really matter for admissions. So, even if you want to do well and actually do well second semester, it doesn't help in admissions? So even if you do well, it can't help in the admissions process? I had a pretty disastrous first quarter, and I would like colleges to see my third quarter grades, seeing there might be an improvement. I don't know if the midyear report, even with the second quarter grades factored in would be excellent...

The problem is that most colleges have already mailed their decisions by the time 3rd quarter grades come out, so they can't take them into account for admissions.

Well, unless you totally bomb third quarter (like failure to the point of not being able to graduate), the grades won't really have any bearing on your admission decision.

ok, so there's really no point in trying your best, then? Dang it...
