Third time's the charm??

Okay, so I took the SAT for the first time in january and got a 1990. Then I took it again in april and got a 2090. Now I am taking an SAT class through Kaplan for 3 hours a day for 4 weeks (that earns me high school credit) and on my practice tests I am consistantly scoring in the 2200's. Is it worth it to take the test again, or will I just look obsessive compulsive to the adcoms for taking the test 3x??

If you really believe you'll get 2200+ or any good improvement over your 2090, you should try it.

I plan to take it for the third time.

The key to the problem of whether or not to retake is that you should retake only if you know for sure you can improve your score significantly (that's the keyword here: significantly). If you're fully confident that you can do so, then you should definitely try to retake and aim higher. However, if you think you will have around the same score if you take it again, then there's no point and it won't reflect well.

Good luck :)

do colleges actually look at the number of times you have taken a test or are they just interested in the scores??

I think its only bad if you take it 4 times or more because thats when they average your scores. The third time would be ok

Okay I think what colleges want to see is an improvement. However they also don't want to see a student taking it over and over just to get a perfect score. So I would say, 3 times max. and only if you know each time that you can improve.

Collegeboard averages the scores of your SAT but the college itself will only take the highest/best out of all the ones you take.

what would be considered a "significant" jump on the test?? 100 points? 200 points?

150-200 points
