this board is way to quiet, i'd like to hear more people talking about jmu since i'm considering going there next year. oh well...

well, first off, why don't you check out the previous thread? there's some good stuff there. maybe you can find something to comment on, which in return might start some discussion. secondly, if you want to see some discussion, you yourself need to post something interesting. instead of complaining about the lack of posts, why don't you ask something about the school? you must have some questions. i'd gladly try my best to answer them...but yes, you're correct; it's pretty quiet here. for a school this big, there should be more posters. but generally, when a new poster asks a relevant question, the few JMU applicants here at the CC are quick to respond. hope you stick around!

yeah I realize that wasn't the most genious post i could conjure up. either way, i'm hoping to get in, i applied ea, but was deferred, got about a 3.4 gpa and 1310 sat, my pops went there, i was just wondering what the stats of some of the people who got in were. i'm concerned i wont make the cut because of my second semester senior year grades, which frankly are horrid. not failing anything i dont think but still. do you think they'll look at the 2nd semester senior year grades and weigh that into their decision? i've got a back case of senioritis and am slackin like it's going out of style. i'm trying to change that now, however late it may be.
any info would be appreciated.

Most colleges don't look at second semester senior grades when they make their decisions. It's sort of impossible to consider them, since decisions are made by April and the grades aren't available until usually mid-June. However, if you are accepted to the school, they can withdraw your acceptance if they think you slacked off greatly during the last semester. For a school like JMU, just try to maintain at least a 3.0 to the end of the year.

By the way, I think you're in. While your GPA is slightly below the average, your SAT score is quite impressive for JMU. Early Action for many schools is always a little more competitive than regular decision, so it's understandable that they didn't take you then. Unless you have absolutely no EC activities or you were rash enough to not complete the optional essay, I think you can really expect an acceptance letter from JMU! I don't know if having a legacy will help, but it can't possibly hurt. Good Luck.

Where else did you apply?

well actually i dont' really have any worth while EC's, however , i did complete the optional essay. my EC's include all of ping pong club (senior year), and a job i had at a video store for like 2 years, i thought they might respect the job aspect. they are pretty laughable though. if i do get in i'm assuming i'll just squeek by, but hey as long as i manage to get in that's good enough for me, if not it's community college for a couple years. i'll report back in a couple weeks as to whether i got rejected or not. thanks for the advice though

I got into JMU early action....I had a 3.6 GPA 1240 SAT and 600's on all SAT II's

I really like the campus and the students seem very friendly, but I'm not sure if the constant party scene is for me. Otherwise, I heard it has a great business program.

I got into JMU EA and that's where I plan on going.. 3.9 gpa and 1200 sat
i agree with r0br0b, i love the campus and everyone seems so nice!

where you from ltlblonde?

I'm from Northern VA, what about you?

g17mike:
yeah, your ECs are fine. the job is a nice addition to your non-academic background. like i said before, you should be okay. good luck and stay cool. Only two more weeks left...

i'm just worried about my grades for the second semester. they're really not going to well right now, and i think i'd rather be rejected outright than accepted and then have them take back their acceptance because of my senior grades.

I got into JMU, but I think I'm going to go to Vtech instead. I'm from NJ, but I liked both and even though JMU's closer, Idk.. it's hard to choose.

emily, were you notified of your accpetance recently (under RD)? Or did you hear from JMU a while ago? Anyway, congrats on your acceptances. Hope your able to make a decision!
