This chance is a little different then the typical IVY chances

What are my chances at CUNY Macaulay Honors College at brooklyn college?
Also. Are my stats competitive enough for BS/MD and BS/DO programs?

My gpa is a 90 exactly.
First time i took the SATs i got a 1340 out of 1600. 760 math. 580 CR. (i took it again last saturday and hoping for a 1400+ out of 1600)
i took one sat2- math SAT2 level 1- got a 770
I have very good EC such as being head of the Globe Club and being the head sound technician for Drama Club. I have also prepared and served meals for war veterans.

can someone freaking chance me already instead of the ivy league air heads

bumpppppppp

can someone seriously chance me? like this goes to show most people who chance people saying you have this kind of shot getting into an ivy league, are basically talking out of their a**. Because if someone WAS knowledgeable about schools, they would have answered my chance already. I mean COME ON i got 122 views and NO ONE has the 30 seconds time to answer back?

This kind of behavior is the best way to ensure that you will not be chanced. Did you ever consider that not many people are aware of the school you are applying to and it’s admission tendencies, whereas the Ivy requirements are much more well-known?

In addition, it’s obvious after 10 minutes of browsing this forum that the majority of individuals doing the chancing are, indeed, the ones who just posted a thread asking to be chanced. Probably not the most reliable source of information.

Moving on… Judging from your scores (and assuming you had a fairly rigorous course load), I’d say you have as good a chance as any applicant. If you bring up your CR score then I’d say you’re practically a shoo-in.

Best of luck, and try not to be so abrasive in the future.

It sure is hard to find any info about the admissions profile for this program- believe me, I looked, because I wanted to answer you. I think the problem is that this is a very New York program, and it is not well know outside the area.

All I could find is that they have about a 10% admissions rate- nothing about who gets admitted, or their stats. It looks like a fantastic program- I hope you get in.

anyone else?

bumpppppppppppppppppppppppp

YOU’RE IN!!! congratulations :D

i dont’ like ur attitude

Bumppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

someone chance meeeeeeee!

arent u the guy who was like “im ready for intel science fair” -.-;;?

Yup. And I am. Can I have some On-Topic chances for this thread?

K well you dont really go into any detail about your ECs, leadership positions, class rank, class rigor, etc. And the majority of people on CC probably have never heard of CUNY Macaulay (such as myself). Going off of the slight information you have given, I can say I have just as good idea as you do. I cannot find any statistics, etc. All I know is that a 580 is a low score, and I’m not sure if that will help you at Macaulay.

And please, stop complaining. You have posted chance threads before with many responses.

A thank you to Pennlover and Barbara would have been appropriate in your post #7.

i’m a new yorker and i know the program you’re talking about.

and no, you don’t have really have a chance. that’s a really competitive MHC campus. i applied for staten island and my stats were much better and more well-rounded than yours, and i was waitlisted and then rejected by MHC. your SATs are higher, but my GPA was much higher and i had many more ECs, including EC leadership. i also had all gifted/talented classes (higher than Honors) and had multiple AP classes. you’re competing against Stuyvasant kids, too.

i didn’t apply for Sophie Davis, but i got into SUNY Geneseo’s DO program and ultimately didn’t go.

I think your SAT scores and maybe GPA is just not high enough for combined BS/MD, however BS/DO may have much lower requirements so check that out.

What is your rank? The GPA of 90 doesn’t mean much to me (where I live it is rather poor because of grade inflation).

My school does not rank. Usually the top public schools ignore the rankings and percentiles because there is no need. And a 90 GPA I know doesn’t do much. But a 1450/1600 should put me in the safe zone (I think so atleast). I just want some constructive criticism to improve my chances.
