I'm totally stressing myself over Cal Poly SLO vs. UC SB.

THere are many pros to both, but I fear that whichever one I attend I will in the future regret it and want to switch.

I just hope I make the right choice.

Any input?

In my opinion, a UC is better than a Cal State, but it depends on what your major is too. I was having this same problem.

Visit the campuses and see which one you get better vibes from.

Visiting the campuses shouldn't be too difficult for you. If you can't, then I'm for SB. I've only visited a couple of times, as my cousin graduated from SB, but it seems like it has a lively student body. The party culture is very much there, of course -- in the morning, you will see lots of beer bottles/cans littering the street, but it's not difficult to avoid if that's not your thing. And of course, the same can be said of any school.

UCSB is stronger all-around than SLO, academically. The only reason one might choose SLO over SB would be if one's major is architecture.

"if one's major is architecture."

...or comp sci, or engineering, or agriculture, or graphic comm., or graphic design. I'm sure I'm leaving out a few, but poly has many highly ranked programs. The science program is exceptional as well. Visit Poly's Open House in a couple weeks, then see what you think.

Green Bay Packers or Alfred Packer???
