This forum is awfully quiet....

I keep an eye on the forums where my son is thinking about applying. Wesleyan is definitely on that list. I am surprised, however, that there seems to be so little activity here.

Are there other students out there who are thinking of applying to Wes? And what advice would current Wes students give to those struggling with their applications.

I know Wes has taken two "hits" in the last few months. There was the article from the disgruntled parent and the drop in the USNWR rankings. Neither, of course, has anything to do with the excellence of the school. Still, it makes me wonder if some students are influenced by those things and there will be a drop in the number of apps....

I think a lot of activity has moved to the Wesleyan Livejournal site and other listservs. Don't worry. This happens every year; one cohort of parents and students leaves and another takes its place as a brand new admissions calendar rolls around:

Yeah :) I'm a current student, and I keep checking to see if anyone has any questions. There hasn't been much activity, but it's an awkward time of year, and no one wants to be the one to make the second visible post on the forum.

There are a lot of students from Texas this year, by the way. On campus, there hasn't really been much talk about the "hits" we've supposedly taken - everyone is loving it here and enjoying the start of the new school year. If you have any questions, just ask!

(I, too, read the Livejournal community.)

Many students attracted to Wesleyan are the kind not attracted to this website. OR, the kinds of students attracted to this website are generally not as attracted to Wesleyan. ;)

Interesting comment, filmxoxo17!

Maybe this is why I am the one posting here and not my son. He is always interested to hear ideas and tips and get information on schools from whatever I've manged to pick up on CC. But personally posting on this site is not his kettle of fish. He does post on a number of other websites including one where he writes collaborative fiction with a group of other writers. That suits his taste much more closely.

In any case, thanks for the comments and opinions.

Or maybe the current Wes students are far to busy having having a crazy but awesome year... w00t!
