This forum is depressing.

Seeing the people here has really put a large jagged axe in my hopes of getting into a top end school. Anyone else agree? Top of my class seems at below average public HS incredibly mediocre now.

I go to a school ranked at about 100/300 in New Jersey. My friend, an Indian, was born in Zambia and moved here when he was six. He has a 96 UW, 103 W GPA, 2300 SATs (after a 2180 the first time), and is President of Red Cross and FBLA, VP of Spanish HS, and has 150 hr of community service. He’s the salutatorian. And he got into Wharton and is set for life.

Nothing really special. Just all around smart kid. If you’re VALEDICTORIAN, plus have 2250+ SAT’s, several AP’s, and a few clubs w/ leadership, you’ll definitely get into a Top 20 school. Don’t get your hopes down.

you know,
the people who aren’t intimidated of posting their stats here,
are probably the top 25% of the class anyway
a lot of average ivy league applicants are probably too ashamed to post much,
it’s the same reason i never posted at art of problem solving,
everyone there was like “hey i got a 10 on the aime is that low”
except that very few people actually get a 10 on the aime

That makes me feel better :)

Yeah, just have confidence in yourself-don’t get so easily intimidated.

oh well, i don’t actually know, i’m just estimating

That’s my other problem. have a friend like that(actually did score exactly 10 on AMIE) Can’t compete with those people. <shrug></shrug>

oh u
go watch some of your japanese animes to cheer you up

what makes you think I like amine? never changed sn since 6th grade and ff7 was great then.

You can never tell these days as some colleges seem to put weight on things other than just academics (well-rounded, leadership, community service, etc). Don’t get depressed!
