No kids should work on fixing the decal dilemma until they figure out how I can access S's PSAT scores.

Think cc should do a bumper sticker so that we can identify each other on the road/in college parking lots?

For my S1's BMW, we got an inside car sticker AND a polar fleece blanket with school's name(that I was to display in my living room by the roaring fire?). Sorry, but both are chintzy.....ba..dum, dum!!

I actually asked my kids for window clings from their respective colleges for the holidays. I really dont know what that says about me.......

Note to self: Factor in decal. It should go above bragging rights at parties as more people will see it but below which sweatshirt I'd like to be wearing when I run into old friends who dared to question my child's intelligence.

This thread is hysterical! When I was a hs senior and got my first car (oops - is that "showing off?" does it change matters any if it was a hand-me-down Cutlass?), I was convinced I was going to Penn, so I put a really huge University of Pennsylvania decal sticker on the back of the car window. Then I decided to go elsewhere, but I couldn't get the Penn sticker to come off easily, so I left it there and just had a small NU sticker on the side window. So ... having a decal for a school you don't even attend. Is that "showing off"? LOL.

^^ I think you could be late on the tuition payment due to the pen running out of ink. You might want to ask Dad II for advice on that......"

Good one, MOWC!

My D's school has really bad colors, IMO. Red and green. What's that?? Christmas all year? And the school is 1/3 Jewish! Oh, the irony....... :D

I think S needs to choose a college based on how I look in their sweatshirt colors.

When our eldest got into Harvard, my wife and I were swept up in a rush of school spirit and got a sweatshirt and a windbreaker, respectively. Then when we put them on, we realized how pretentious they'd look in our small town where few students even go out of state. I tend to wear the windbreaker now only when I jog at night, and my wife uses her sweatshirt for housework. And it's unfortunate because we both look great in crimson!

That's it. I want royalties every time someone take my name in vain. Just pm me your credit card number, ss#, paypal account info and a scan of the routing numbers on your checks. I'll handle the rest.

Great thread. I may have jumped the gun on the decal. My daughter and I ordered her hoodie last night and added in the window decal. There were many choices but I suggested the traditional style. Of course there was a choice between 17" and 12" and I said go with the small one, no need to be all showy about it. LOL. I had no idea just having the decal at all might be considered bragging. Oh well.

What's the protocol? Remove "student of the week" from elementary school? Or get a new car?
I think you should add a trailer to the back of your car. Lots more room for lots more stickers! Problem solved. :)

I almost never post in this forum (because I'm not a parent) but it's my second favorite place to lurk. That's how I keep tabs on all the parents posting in my forum... (kidding, kidding). Anyway: This thread? Awesome.

I was just thinking the exact same thing, oregonianmom!! trailer. Or, start to paste them on yourself or hire a person to wear them. Or pay the neighbor to put them on their car. Or put them on your bicycle.

I bought a sweatshirt when we were visiting University of Wisconsin last January (brrr - I was cold!). Son ended up not going there, is now at another school. Now I have this really great sweatshirt that I feel weird wearing, because I am in no way affiliated with the school. I wore it one day a couple of months ago, and somebody in a store stopped me to chat about it, because they were an alum, and I had to explain the whole thing. LOL!

Ah, thanks, lizzardfire. We like fun, respectful kids to come visit!

Now, wth is your FAVORITE place to lurk, if not with us?

Go for it, electronblue! Be proud! Get the big decal. :)

Big decals and bumper stickers??? . . . I drive a 1995 Dodge Intrepid and the paint is peeling off in big sheets. It needs a paint job, but I'm top cheap to pay someone to repaint a 14-year-old car. What if I gave it a sticker job instead of a paint job? That could be a lot cheaper.

^^ maybe if you put loads of HYP stickers on, gadad, and then park in front of the HYP alumni building on campus, the HYP alumni organization will contact you about paying for the paint job. Just a suggestion.

My DH drove a bomb for years, and also parked in the special MD emergency parking space when he had to rush in to the hospital to see a patient. He got more than one ticket (even though he had the permit sticker) because apparently the parking attendant did not believe that an MD would drive that car. He is so proud of those tickets....

gadad, go for the 60's look. Cover it with stickers and decals, and don't forget a flower-power flower or two. Remember those? No one will mistake your Intrepid for a VW bus, but maybe you can start a fad. The 60's have come back at least once before.

haha Yodon'tsay: The Caltech forums. I'm a Junior, so I attempt to answer all the questions of the prospective students / their parents over there. Although I guess since I post there a lot it's not really lurking...
