I just got an email from Stanford about the status of my app. One of sentences caught my eye.
"In addition, all applicants must click here now. This will confirm for us that this email has been received. **Your ability to follow this simple instruction is very important.**"
Like we're in 3rd grade...

Everyone got that message. I thought it was a little strange too but they’re just being precautions. It’s no biggie!

oh i know! that freaked me out a bit too.

although, slightly off topic but still… after following their instructions, aren’t we supposed to receive a SUNet ID? i mean how am i supposed to check my axcess (or w/e it’s called) account without the ID? i got the email with them telling me what credentials they had and had not received but nothing about an ID… or maybe I did and I missed it :S what about you guys?

don’t wry. i didn’t get an id or pass thing or anything like that.

No, you just click the “Check Application Status” link, and enter your email address. No SUNet ID required.

^^ uh-oh! I never got that e-mail…*****!

yea i think you only get a SUNet id after acceptance. I went to Stanford High School Summer College and we received SUNet id’s because we were taking classes there. After camp was over they told us our usernames were inactivated but would be reactivated if we were accepted to Stanford or took classes there again.
So they just email you acceptance i guess…is that right? This is just an assumption afterall…

@soadquake: I’m ■■■■■■■■ and can’t seem to find that link–could you post it all the rest of us?

thx!

here it is:
Check the status of your application. It is your responsibility to make sure that your application is complete and that all required credentials have been received by us. You can check the status of your application after January 1, by going to http://axess.stanford.edu/ and clicking on “Check Application Status” on the lefthand side, under “Guest Menu”. You will then be prompted to enter your email address; an email will be sent to you listing the credentials that have been received for your application. Note: You must enter the email address you listed on your application.

Don’t judge Stanford by the practices of its admissions office. There is so much more to the school.

It gives explicit directions on using axess in the email . . .

^^ whew! thnx!

but somewhere on the email it said about checking your app status (i think it was status, or something of that nature) once a day…what was that all about…?

oh yea it said dont check your status more than once a day…idk y…maybe because if too many ppl are longed on at once the system will have problems…

Please be aware that we are receiving transcripts, recommendations, and other credentials for thousands of applicants and there may be a significant delay between the time we receive those credentials and/or your application, and when they are matched together. Please do not call or email to check on the status of your application. We cannot confirm the arrival of specific credentials by phone or email. Instead we encourage you to check your status online after the January 1 application deadline, frequently, but no more than once per day, using the link above, until your application is complete. Please also be aware that we do not track optional materials that are not required for admission, so we will not be able to give you the status of any optional items sent."

Isn’t reading wonderful? ;)
