LAWL.

I'm not very impressed either. She is clearly not very "down-to-earth" if she chose Harvard over Princeton and Yale.
=)

I was obviously being sarcastic- are those awards suppose to look impressive? It's clearly not working.

Some people aren't sarcastic, that's the even scarier part.

geez people...
she wrote a bunch of research papers & got them published in international journals, etc. i know many of you are probably really smart, but her accomplishments are quite impressive too. how many of you know people that were able to do all of that? sure it looks like a laundry list, but her hard work can't be denied. i think she DESERVED to get in

Posoowa | Great Success Awaits Nandini Sarma of Kansas!!

wow you people are so ridiculously foolish...do you REALLY think she did all that without any outside help? The problem with those kinds of things is that there is no way to know what the actual extent of her involvement in the research was. Now if she had scored really high on USAMO or attended IBO or something of that nature, then I'd be impressed. And, I'm only saying this b/c I know an Intel STS Finalist from last year and found out how he was actually getting a lot of help writing his paper from his professor (who was obssessed with getting recognition, one way or the other).

I see that girl walking around sometimes. I think she is friends with the girl who lives above me. haha

wow... how the hell did the reporter get such a detailed list of all the awards and accomplishments and leadership positions? did he get a copy of their college applications from the admissions office or something?

anyway, this isn't so much an article as a laundry list in prose form :D

That's odd... I can't access the article.

I think people are missing the best part about her...SHE'S HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and stop hating, reading that list was so amazing. She seems amazing!!!!!!!

Stories like that make me want to throw up. She's really pretty, too. Some people really hit the life jackpot, jeez.

This isn't hitting the life jackpot.

Hitting the life jackpot is like Niels Bohr's family. Father was a renowned physiologist for whom the Bohr shift is named. Brother was an eminent mathematician who founded the field of almost periodic functions and an olympian. Son was a nobel laureate. Mother was part of a really really really rich banker family.

Oh, and he won the Nobel prize and helped making up that whole quantum mechanics thing.

This girl's pretty impressive, though.

Her and her brother could get something like that started^^^

I lol'd at this.

As for the rest of the thread, I found it hilarious how 90% of you went like "Oh, I feel like crap". Something like this "crushes your spirit"?

We live in a culture that celebrates other peoples' failures and misfortunes to compensate for our own insecurities.

Actually quite the opposite, I find we bash ourselves and relish in our own insecurities from other peoples' success rather than going on with our lives in a happy manner and trying our best everyday...

I applaud these people, sure they have accomplished a lot, but have they done something truely OUTSTANDING in their field of study? Time will tell.....

Ok, my goal in life (for the next 10 years) is to go to Harvard, and until I get in, I will admire all those who have gotten in (including shalashaska among others), they are my role models and who I want to be in the next 4 years. So..yea, I don't believe most of those awards were legit. Only Siemens/Intel were semi-legit, as she most likely got help from relatives/professors..trust me, I know many people who get 90% help from their professors. Also, some awards like "spanish national honor society" are kinda sketchy...but otherwise, she is fine and deserves Harvard..her parents truly pushed her hard. I only wish my parents would beat me everyday for not getting 100% on everything.

Btw..you guys remember Lukasz Zbylut? The guy who got into 17 colleges? The only college he got rejected from was MIT...

The fact that this young lady is the first author listed means she was the main contributor to the project (the last author probably did most of the writing):

Kudos to her.

I hope you're spitting game man because she's fine and smart. You'll meet very few girls like that in your lifetime. That's definitely girlfriend material.

HOLY **** What does she do other than science projects
