When you pay tuition(and fees), do you pay every year you attend the college, or do you pay just your freshman year?
Like, if your colleges tuition and fees comes to a total of 18,860, and you attend the college for 4 years, do you have pay 18,860 every year? I'm confused.
Also, if you knew you weren't gonna be able to pay for college, would you just go to a community college, instead of going to a university for a year then going to community college(because you realized you couldn't pay for university)?

You pay every year. So that 18,860 is per year, about $75k total for all 4 years.

And if you couldn’t attend college, why would you go to uni 1 year, and then to a CC? it’s usually the other way around. If you can’t afford it, go to a CC for 2 years, save up money and transfer. But try and exhaust all possible methods first: scholarships, grants, etc. There are some cheap schools out there, so that 18,860 can be taken down a lot.

You pay every year, and in my experience by the semester, too.

I went to community college first and then transferred to a university. I’ll still have $50,000 in private student loan debt but I’d have had $100,000 otherwise JUST for undergrad. No thank you!

If I were worried about affording college, I would start at community college. I would try to work while I went to community college, and I would probably not take a full course load if I could get a job (or jobs) with enough hours. I would therefore expect to take more than 2 years to do my “first 2 years” of college. I would focus on taking courses that would transfer to a state university and fulfill as many of my general education and lower-division requirements as possible, and I would work to save as much money as possible.

It would be my goal to be able to pay for the final 2 years at a good state university using savings and grants as much as I could. I’d be bargain-shopping: the best education and credential for the least amount of debt that I could get.

There is absolutely no way I would go to a 4-year school for a year intending to transfer to a 2-year school in my second year. Starting at a 4-year school, changing plans, and transferring, sure. But I wouldn’t plan it that way.
