This is a Warning

To all of you who are considering taking an online AP course think again. I thought I could do it. I really did. Now I see that AP online is only for the super-super-super-super self-motivated students, especially b.c deadlines are so flexible. I am being crushed by a behemoth of work to finish before the end of the semester and even though that may be just me you should just know this before you decide to take an AP course. In my case, all my "due-tomorrow" school work came first and so my AP work consistenty fell to the bnottom of the priority pile until now. So, ya, I highly advise against it.

wow. you're a n00b

only n00bs need to take online classes for APs :P

Thanks for that info. I was thinking of taking a class online. But now I can see how hard it can be. What class did you take? Maybe that influenced your experience. Did it require a lot of work? Was there too much work?

it is not necessarily the amount of work. im actually taking ap us government and politics which is not so hard. the issue is, as i mentioned above, that the online ap falls to the bottom of the priority pile/ think about this scenario:
i have a paper due in two days, a set of calculus problems to do tonight that will take an hour, plus i have to study for a major AP Science X test tomorrow. oh yeah, i should have the chapter for AP done by tomorrow as well, but, you know, there is no reall due date so i can always do that another time.

or what about this scenario:
gosh im exhausted and it's friday. i just want to spend my night relaxing (for me i cannot even work on friday nights or saturdays b/c of religious reasons) but then again i have to catch up on two chapters of ap work. ah, ***, ill just take a nap now, after all i can always push it off.

thus thios continues until ur like "crap i have to finish everthing or im gona get a REALLY bad grade" and ur totally stressed cuz you have 50 hours of work ahead of you. ya it's that bad. i do tend to procrastinate but i think even students who are motivated than I would put their imminent shcoolwork before their AP work.

next year im just gonna take classes at the local community college.

p.s. why am i a n00b? my school offers only one AP and the govt teacher at our school is really really bad.

You could just do independent study and take the AP exam. You can study what you think is important and there are absolutely no dead lines

Yea, I second TI_2006, the AP U.S. Goverment and Politics exam is fairly easy, and can be done with just studying from a prep book and you'll most likely get at least a 4-5. Screw online courses, they are a waste of money.

Yeah, it must be that psychological factor of having two things to do (school, independent study) instead of one (school). I took abstract algebra this summer and still haven't finished it. At least I'll finish it before the course deadline. Meaning I'll get an A instead of failing. Failing Bad. A Good.

fizix: wow :-o i hope i dont get to that point.
