:( this is causing me to go through a state of depression...

this is why I didn't apply to any UC's-- pretty much UGA runs the same way (high SAT scores and that's it really), and from what I saw, UCLA is pretty much like the UGA of California, so I DEFINITELY wasn't going to apply. Hell no!

So I guess my chances as an OOS are probably better at USC?

I've got a fantastic resume and great essays, etc. The only thing bring me down is my some-what below average SAT I :(

I just hope if SC doesn't accept me, I'll have at least a shot at Santa Barbara / Irvine

Definitely better at USC. Especially given the low SAT (sorry to say... :(). UC admission for OOS is ridiculously competitive, esp. at LA and Berkeley. I keep hearing about people who get admitted to all the Ivies and rejected from Berkeley. I don't know much about SB or Irvine. But the essay/resume is something that USC is bound to appreciate!

i second that schitz. getting into sb and irvine shouldn't be hard at all. sb is my lowest of low backups. it's nothing compared to sc. it might be different as an oos though...

public schools tend to consider their own state students first. afterall, it's the california residents that pay the taxes :D

OH and today i called sc regarding my situation and got an email in reply.

here's the email:

"Thank you for your inquiry.

Freshmen applicants who have completed their application by the January 10th deadline and who have responded promptly to any requests for additional information, should have a decision letter mailed to them by the first of April.

Scholarship award notifications are usually mailed out to admitted freshman applicants by the end of March.

Transfer applicants who submitted a complete application by the deadline and who have responded promptly to any requests for additional information will be sent a decision letter or a request for spring grades by June 1. Admission decision notifications are provided by letter only.

Scholarship award notifications are usually mailed out to admitted transfer applicants in mid-May. "

wonderful. tells me absolutely nothing.

oh and about the call: he was mean as heck and told me nothing. he was just like "oh well all the stuff's been mailed out! i suppose we probably mailed your "no scholarship" letter on the 2nd! oh you haven't received it? don't worry! you'll get it!"

that's nice considering i live 50 minutes away from LA and there's no mail in california that takes 18 days to reach me -_-. plus it's so frickin obvious he's just guessing and wants to hang up on me. if this stuff was on my record, i'm sure the lady i called a week ago would've mentioned it :|.

this is absolutely wonderful.

Foil_: I've been away for a couple days, so I just read your post.
At least you got an acceptance - I've received no mail from USC since the letter saying 'yes we got your application'. :(

I just called USC, and the lady told me that my decision letter along with any scholarship acceptances (I wish) will be sent before April 1st...gah...

cynicalowl: Did you apply before the scholarship deadline? Are you hoping for a International Freshman Academic scholarship at all? How strong is your application?

I actually wasn't planning to apply for a scholarship, I just filled in everything and it was only later when I checked my confirmation emails that I realised I'd submitted it on Dec 10th. And yeah, International Academic Freshman is the only one I've got a shot at.

I did post my stats on another thread on this board...not sure where it disappeared to...ah: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=293327

One thing that could cost me is the fact I only sent in 1 rec, even though it was excellent smacks forehead
