I attended a four year college for 2 semesters and could no longer continue because my family could no longer afford the tuition and fees. I ended up owing around $20,000( I applied as an international student and was not eligible for any financial aid at the time and things haven't exactly been forthcoming since then).

After this, i "foolishly" tried to get an official transcript but was told that until I paid off the $20,000, that would be impossible. I decided to then enroll at a community college where I have been for the past two years. Now as a permanent resident, I have been offered an athletic scholarship to another 4 year college but as I am lacking one of my transcripts, I am totally clueless on what to do. I am almost certain that I won't be able to apply without this transcript and I am also not comfortable with the idea of lying on the application.

I have a couple of months before i am scheduled to start school at this new college and it seems like this situation with the previous college will make it impossible for me to transfer.

P.S I anonymously called the new college to inquire about this type of situation and their response was that " We will not be able to admit you without the official transcript".

Has anyone been in this kind of situation and what was the outcome?

Does anyone have any experience dealing with a situation like this and what would you advise?

I appreciate all responses.
