This is going to sound anal

and I already posted it on another part of the board but…

On common app I accidentally reported to my ED school that I got 10 points higher (720 as opposed to 730, what I reported) on an SAT II test. This was a careless error on my part and I hope that it won’t affect my decision.

My question (and again I know it sounds really anal). Should I call my schools admissions office, just to let them know of this? I know they have the college board transcript that has the actual score. But does ten points look dishonest or just like a typo. I really thought I had a 730 before hand.

So what should I do given that results are going to be mailed sometime this week.

I would definitely call the school ASAP. If they catch it, they may not believe it was an honest mistake. TELL THEM MONDAY MORNING. I think it will cause admissions to think you are very honest and conscientious, which would do nothing but help your chances.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that they won't even look at the self-reported scores. But if it'll help you sleep better at night, give them a call.

10 pt. you're advising him to bug them for 10 measly points!? Hell, is that even a mistake on the test, or an omitted answer? Don't bother contacting them, 10 pts. should not, and will not, affect your chance there.

i don't think correcting an error is bothering the school. seriously, just e-mail them... admissions@brandeis.edu. not a big deal, not a very time-consuming thing to do. why risk them thinking you lied to boost your chances at the school. "better safe than sorry..."

Yup, just sent them a quick email. Thanks a lot for all of your help.
