I am not that fluent in english, but I really need to call the college about financial aid, because i don't qualify for financial aid but did get some scholarship, but it's not enough.

how do i tell them persuasively that i really wanna go there and that i really need more money?

I have not done myself this exercise but I saw some nice person posted a script on this FA forum and I am just copying it for you. You can also search for it. If you have another good comparable offer, you will have a leverage in the process. Anyway, you can tweak this one and use it to your advantage. All the best!!

“I strongly feel that your school is the BEST fit for me but I was troubled by the discrepencies in cost compared to other offers”

Point out that tuition, room and board at each of your top choices were similar (quote the numbers without naming the schools) then simply close with something like:

“Please consider this humble request for re-evaluation. I hope you find it is possible to offer additional grants/scholarships to narrow the $XXXX per year difference I am facing during my dicision process.”

You may do better to email the fin aid department. That way you can take your time to compose your thoughts and have a friend proof read the words before you hit “Send.”

Please be aware that many colleges are in a horrible condition this year. Many students who would have received aid in the past will be refused or pushed to loans this year.

You may have to look at backup plans, like a community college or working for a year or more (is the military an option for you?).

It is a very challenging time to be a college student in America.

Hi, I’d like to know, in the case where I don’t have any comparable offers (private school with no aid compared to a public school where I would be considered “in-state”), what good points can I bring up aside from the fact that I really want to go to the school and I can’t afford it otherwise?
