This is just another stupid chance thread

I didn't go on this site for around a month, trying to forget about admissions. But the past few weeks i have been back and been getting psyched out.

I was pretty confident about getting into cal and ucla as a math and math/econ major from ucsd. My first 3 quarters were 3.08, 3.60, and 3.85. So i had a huge upward trend and I was expecting to get even higher this fall. unfortunately i tanked and got a 3.13 :(((. Making my cumulative gpa a 3.43. I explained on the winter update that i was working 40 hours a week (i have never done this while going to school before this quarter) and that I would cut down my hours to 25 next quarter.

The only good thing that differentiates myself from ccc transfers (because they already have the clear advantage) is that i have taken 5 upper div math classes and gotten all A's and B's in them.

I'd rate myself at 40% for ucla, 15% for cal, but what do you guys think?

You're a UC to UC transfer right cr_book?

I will offer you my perspective for UCLA based on their admissions statistics for UC to UC transfers:
2007 #s 758 apps, 274 accepted with an average of 3.49 ( average applied 3.27 )
2008 #s 848 apps, 241 accepted with an average of 3.53 ( average applied 3.30 )

I mean your GPA is higher than the average applicants and not that much below the average admit. Keep your head up and continue to work hard. If you get a 4.0 this quarter, it might give you grounds to appeal.

yes uc to uc

oh that's true, i never thought of that (getting grood grades this quarter and appealing).

thanks for the input and the hope.

I ve heard that if you appeal to ucla they wont look at it they dont care if they deny u ur done

^^ this statement rivals your post about not knowing what an average is.

"Of the approximately 7,850 transfer deny decisions, UCLA reversed approximately
55 of the 320 appeals" (from Fall '03)

It's possible.

thats impressive. what factors are considered in accepting appeals? i had been told that appeals are pointless
