So i am planning on taking the SAT on October 6 and planning on starting to study in July. the last time i took it i got a 2100- 750 Math 640 CR 710 Writing. I would like to raise my math score to an 800, raise my critical reading score to above a 700 and finally raise my writing score to a 750.

What review book do you guys think is best to fit these needs? Im really in need of some advice and some responses would be great.

Based upon the CC posts and my own experience here is what I recommend:
1. Buy the Blue Book
2. Go to the TestMasters site and buy their handy Complete Solutions to the Blue Book - ie explanations for all the BB questions
3. Go to your school Guidance Office and pick up a copy of the CB's free sample SAT.
4. Go to the CB Store and buy some PSATs for $3.00 each
5. Go to Direct Hits Publishing - Lulu.com and buy Direct Hits Vocabulary - it has been the top performer on the March and June SATs
6. Buy Princeton Review's Cracking the SAT = still a great book with lots of valuable tips and strategies
7. Unfortunately the Barrons 2400 book won't be available until August 5th. Check your local Barnes and Noble or Borders. Maybe you will luck out and they will have one/
Good luck!

dark knight, thanks for your suggestions, ive been through the blue book and i went through CRACKING 07. took all BB practice tests and i was averging like a 680-700 on CR on those but come test time i got a 640. I like the Barrons difficulty level(use book for Math2) but i hated the answers and explanations. I need a book with tough CR passages so i can really master that. I will probably pick up the direct hits book, but then again ive taken a course and im not sure how much teh testmasters stuff will help me. I have really stopped trusting CB because of what happened to me on CR.

PDadhich - glad you are doing well. Keep up the great work.
SilO725 - Go to the TestMasters website. The book is entitled: Complete Solutions to the College Board's Official SAT Study Guide for the New SAT.
It is a very handy source.

I recommend for reading that you continue reading the newspaper daily and get more used to critical reading.

For math and writing, take a practice SAT and then examine what you're not getting right, and then try not to make the same mistakes again. That's the best way to improve.
