If it wasn't for the fact that many of you incoming plebes are believing a lot of the junk that is being posted on here, it would be comical.

The fact is that despite what some alumni would have you believe, things have CHANGED . . . A LOT . . . at the Academy.
Trust your instincts. What may have been a tradition or requirement or method of doing things twenty years ago has most likely changed.
It has never gone out of fashion to do the right thing, but you will learn everything you need to know and when you need to know it from the staff, cadre, and upperclassmen.
Hang tight. It's been a great ride.

Gee, I guess being a graduate and wanting to help just isn't good enough for the enlightened know-it-alls at the place now.

Forgive me for....... what's the crime, exactly?

Tell you what, junior. When you have your ring and your diploma, come and talk to me that way. Until then, either do something useful like politely correct any errors, or simply stuff a sock in it.

Obviously they're not teaching manners at USNA anymore....

I appreciate that, and I recognize that some of what I offer may be dated (never claimed otherwise). If so, all I ask is that someone please correct it. Nothing I ever offer here is meant to mislead.

What I will not put up with is some snot-nosed little punk badmouthing those of us who are here because we love our alma mater and want to do what we can for those who want to join the ranks of the Ringknockers. Either contribute something useful or ST*U.

Oh...Yeah! That's a really helpful comment. If you can't take the time to offer constructive criticism or up-to-date specific advice, why do you even bother? It should be obvious to any serious applicant, that they will need to listen and do what they are told when they get there! But that is not what they are asking, and I don't see you helping fill their insatiable desire to learn facts, hear history (and historically correct stories), read specific books, watch specific documentaries, study specific military ways, workout to specific physical prep plans..etc, etc, etc.

So who is the know it all with the bad attitude, that seems will set a bad upperclassman example?
