I kinda skimmed the thread, so if I missed this, let me know.
OP - You never specified if the math class was required for IGETC or for your major. UCs won’t let you take an IGETC course over the summer, but they will allow you to take a major course.
I know they put a lot of weight on that one IGETC math class. It’s what trips up most Liberal Arts majors. Usually they want it done by the Fall semester/quarter before transfer so they know your grade when they review your application.
I’m also going to suggest you put your tail between your legs and go beg your professor, because like Cali Trumpet said, you got nothin to lose. If that doesn’t work, call Davis and beg.

^Yeah I don’t get why people think a professor wouldn’t notice something like that.

I guess I’m lucky cause my major is Anthro, so no one is stepping all over you to get the grade in that major and grad schools are more concerned with experience in the field than how many A’s you can get. But I can’t even imagine what kind of cheating goes on in the hard sciences. Hell, the only people who should be allowed to cheat are pre-law students (let’s face it, they need the preparation).

Haha, we are talking O-chem 140B with Molinski right? I’ve got two friends in there, and boy were they ****ed.

I found out recently a TA for my Mammalian Physiology course was going over the answers for our first midterm prior to the first midterm…

You can bet I was ****ed. I was wondering how these people were hanging with me, when I was doing twice the amount of work they did. Now I know, they’re no good cheaters!

Also, small world eh?

Emm… I’m not sure. I just know it was organic chemistry.

Mammalian Physiology? I think this is the first time I’ve heard about this course. Haha. I wouldn’t doubt that UCSD would have it either.

And yes, it’s a small world.

@dj: Cheating and sabotage is the name of the game in the hard sciences. Why organize a study group with the very people you are competing with? You’re just shooting yourself in the foot. Also, messing with other people’s lab’s happens some too. Anything to get the “A”…

Hell, I’m guilty of it too. I’ll feed people wrong answers just to make things easier on myself, or I’ll pose really obscure questions during discussion sections just before a test, to shake their confidence. It’s like greek to them because they don’t do the reading!

I really have to like you in order to get any help from me. In class, anyway.

Wow UCT…, I’m glad it turns out I wasn’t so good at physics or I would surely have avoided you ^^.

Seriously though, I love my major now more than ever.

Haha, yeah, it’s a “pre-med” major. It’s actually Animal Physiology and Neuroscience. I enjoy it, and the material is really health field oriented. They’ll teach you about the functions of the heart. Then pose a question like, “If a person suffering from a weak left heart were to attempt to run up 4 flights of stairs, what would happen to them?”

Yeah, it was most definitely Molinski then.

@dj: Haha, tell me about it. I don’t like doing those things (much), but these people are trying to keep me from my dream of becoming a Doc. Looking at it that way, things become SO much easier.

The hard sciences are hard for a reason. ;)

Yeah science sounds confusing. I think I’ll stick with philosophy for the rest of my life.

I took anatomy last semester cause I needed it for transfer and cause I want to concentrate on forensic anthro. Every student in that class was hoping to go into the RN program except me, EVERYONE. Do you know how easy it was to cheat in that class? And I swear most of them were idiots and it made me fear for the future of our healthcare system. I got an A (cause I’m super brilliant ^_^), but I’m here to worn you that one of your future nurses may have passed an introductory Anatomy course with a C by cheating. Seriously, it scares me to think of nurses and doctors cheating on exams.

It’s not that bad. If you find a field you like, you can do some great things to better your fellow man’s situation. Also, getting rich doing so doesn’t hurt.

@Jenn: Thinking of going into law?

@dj: Not to mention the drug abuse. People joke about having to take adderall to finish papers and cram for midterms. I hate them the most as not only are they cheating, but they’re using performance enhancing drugs too!
Adderall is widely reported to increase alertness, concentration and overall cognitive performance while decreasing user fatigue
We need to have mandatory drug testing before and after midterms it seems…

Yes, law – but, none of that lying bull***** djatucla mentioned about lawyers. I’m going to be poor and be an attorney that fights for human rights. Of course, if everything goes accordingly.

community colleges are already tough enough when you look at the average gpas [California Community Colleges](California Community Colleges) compared to some renowned universities UC-Berkeley

looking at these alone, some people could say that cc courses are weeder courses ;$

Well at least someone else is actively trying to better people’s situations.

That’s why I like medicine. Even if I get jaded and corrupt, I’ll still be saving lives. It’ll help keep me honest. Haha.

Just thinking about all these cheaters trying to keep me from my goal angry’s up the blood!

Fun fact: A few people with 4.0’s or some absurdly high GPA are severely lacking in volunteering experience and interpersonal skills. That’s why they don’t get into med school. Haha.

^you go jennnn!!

sheesh you guys, I’m going to sleep now, but before I do, I just want to point out to the OP, that cheating/lying/stealing is never good if you can avoid it (unless you’re Jean Valjean stealing a loaf of bread). And if you do end up doing those things, karma could came back to you big time.

So hold the cheating/lying/stealing for a life or death situation and just talk to your teacher about how your grade was calculated and if there are any assignments you could still turn in (letting them know about UCD might gain sympathy to look back over your course work, but then again maybe not).

Good night and good luck.

UC_Transfer,

I have a brilliant proposal! When you’ve successfully become a doctor, who makes lots of money and have no time to spend it… marry me? I can put your money into good use since I’ll have none. My grandmother gave birth nine times and my mother has five children; thus, I think it’s safe to say I’ll have little problem reproducing babies. Plus, I’m comical, full of life and realistic.

Btw, that ^^^^ was a joke.

Haha, unfortunately I’m already married… to the sea.

Actually, my goal is to make a boat load of cash and retire to some tropical island where I can live like a king on 43 dollars U.S. Leaving behind a beautiful, bloated, corpse who will have lived more in a short few years, than most people will have their entire lives.

That’s the dream anyway.

If it changes, or if I’m in need of a woman who can provide me with a metric ton of kids, i’ll let ya know ;)

<- I’m pretty good with sarcasm.

damn did i say something i didn’t realize? i don’t think i mentioned cheating or lying in any of my posts. i just said i feel devastated because i tried so hard in that math class and was ont he borderline the whole semester and the final just threw me off. im not the type of person to pout about things, but this was the final blow to this 7 month journey. i hate that i can’t be a part of transferring because of a meaningless grade, i have learned far more useful things than that grade shows, when a final is like 25-30% of your grade it makes you nervous, specially me since math is not my subject. it sucks because the major i wanted to do required 3 classes of calculus, i didn’t even think twice about it. ahh w.e. thanks to a few people who said some uplifting things, rather than talking about me cheating but nonetheless thank you for the concern. i guess im gonna be back at this site next year going through this all over again :(
