This is Stupid

I am currently going to be a second semester sophomore in college at 15 but I feel that I am missing high school. I am not doing bad in college since I have already basically finished my major but it feels like something is missing. My real question is do you think that a boarding school would admit me for 11th grade next fall?

Deffinetely! wait.. where are you in college?

I went to Simon's Rock College of Bard this past year,in the fall I am going to Mary Baldwn College.

Also I am currently attending summer school at SUNY Albany

I have two (rhetorical -- or "keep your answers to yourself") questions for you:

1) What is it that you think you are missing?

2) In what way will that be remedied by attending BS or any other HS for that matter?

You should now put those two answers together and see if you think the answers would appeal to a BS admissions officer or make them believe that you're better off finding what you're looking for at some other place? If you think your two answers above would impress a BS admissions officer, my guess is that they'd find a place for you. If those answers would make the admissions officer think something like, "Yeah, well this school doesn't exist to give you a chance to attend a prom or have your first kiss with a classmate," you might find you'll have an uphill battle.

Right now, though, you're an extremely identifiable person -- especially to someone who has ever (or, in the future, will) handle a BS or college transfer application that you submit. PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS AND INTENTIONAL ABOUT WHAT YOU POST ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD. Even if you say glowing things about a school...it could cut against you if someone from another school happens upon (or recalls) your very memorable and fact-specific posts here on College Confidential.

I will keep that in mind .Thank You

Why are you attending school in the summer in addition to pushing everything ahead so much? Is academics your favorite pasttime (not trying to be sarcastic, I am just really curious about why you would do this).

if you able to garduate college at 17 feel lucky. At 18 you can start a real job, have a REAL CAREER, YOUR OWN LIFE, WHILE EVERYONE ELSE JUST WENT INTO COLLEGE. hIGHSCHOOL IS ALOT OF DRAMA AND JUST PROM AND HOMECOMING AND PARTIES. yOU CAN ALWAYS ATTEND A HIGHSCHOOL PROM IF U KNOW A FRIEND AT THAT SCHOOL

i would definitely say if you want to apply to bs. though you may get ahead in life, nothing replaces your high school years. a lot of people may have hated high school, you learn a lot from all of the ups and downs of your teenage years.

it really depends on want you want out of life though, as lilchica said "At 18 you can start a real job, have a REAL CAREER, YOUR OWN LIFE, WHILE EVERYONE ELSE JUST WENT INTO COLLEGE.".

The "real career, and your own life" lasts a very long time; take advantage of your youth and don't be in a rush to jump ahead a few years. Just because you are intelligent does not mean you should not enjoy your high school years.

It is by far not about Proms or social events

From what I understand you essentially have 4 options here (or 4 types of options) - staying at your current college, applying to a BS, going to your home public school (I'm assuming you're not interested in this), or transferring to another college.
This is definitely a chance to take back some years in high school if you ever wanted to (or possibly even next year). That could definitely feel strange to do this after almost having a college degree (especially with having more rules than if you stayed at college), but if you know why you want to do this, the pros might outweight the cons for you. Even if you apply and go to BS for a year, and decide you want to go back to college after that, and not go back to HS again, you'd certainly still be very ahead, and you'd have quite a number of real college credits. You could probably even transfer to another college after a year or two of BS if you felt like starting the college process over.
If you decide to stay at college, you may not be able to go back to the HS/BS environment later, but you're certainly ahead which also has its benefits.
Basically, you have a very good (& lucky) number of options right now, but think it all through a lot no matter what, and be VERY careful about what route decide. You'll end up fine no matter what path you take. I think it depends on what you want and what you will have wanted to experience - probably meaning whether you like boarding at college with college courses and (typically) college-age people, or boarding with high school classes and some more restrictions. Good luck!
Disclaimer, for whatever it means: I'm a rising HS senior.

A girl I know well began college after her freshman year of high school through a program geared for early entry. She finished when she was not quite 19, and then onto a masters by 21 or 22. All questions about quality of education aside, since I can't address those, I think she missed out on both a high school experience and a "normal" college experience in terms of interpersonal relationships, activities, and non academic things.

I don't think that at her current age, low 20's she is so different from anyone else who recently graduated (except that she has a masters already.) Somehow everything evened out. She also went summers during undergrad, as I understood it, in order to finish "on time."

It is my personal belief that there is more to life than just studies, so without knowing you, it is hard to say what to do. Do you have outside interests, friends, etc.? If these are satisfactory, is there really a reason to change?
