If you're writing sentences to learn vocabulary words, I should be able to determine from the context of the sentence what the word means. You learn words best if you understand the denotation and the connotation of the word. How it's usually used is just as important as the actual definition, *especially[/] when you're doing sentence completion questions.</p>

<p>To Maributt: I find people learn words best when they define them for themselves from the context of a sentence the word is used in, then look up the definition. The two definitions--your definition and the dictionary's--make a complete understanding of the word.<br>
(of course, this assumes you are able to accurately define a word from context.)</p>
