This is the worst week of my entire life.

My friend is in a similar situation.

Good luck. I may be joining you in my sorrow after 4 decisions in the next three days.

Why do you guys get Associate degress when you should technically still be in highschool? It seems like a waste of time to me. There is only one chance in your life to be a kid. Why waste it and do something that you are going to do anyways a few years down the line? You guys are really deprieving yourselves of one of the most important times of your life.

Yeah, I am puzzled by why people are getting AAs so early. It's not like employers are actively looking for the youngest candidates possible.

^ Yeah, why study, study, study? It's good to try in high school, but why try that hard and go beyond it? You can't have your years of youth back. You may not feel that way now, but maybe you will in 10 or 20 years.

Improvements,

Keep your head up. The safety schools rejected you because they knew you wouldn't choose them anyway, the top schools will gladly accept you. Just wait it out and keep your faith.

In my case, my family and I moved here in the US after I graduated HS in the Philippines (2 years ago.) We don't have middle schools out there. When we moved here, I wasn't required to go back to HS.

So I didn't really have a choice.

Don't worry guys. Sometimes, the more selective colleges will actually give you a better shot if you have an AA.

I did a dual-enrollment program during my last two years of high school and have more than enough credits to get an AA from my local CC (but I decided not to, mainly because I didn't want to take a few worthless gen ed classes to get the degree) and I've been accepted to Rice, U of Rochester, and U of Washington so far.

Don't lose hope, you may be surprised.

Students graduate from my school with an AA degree (its an early college program) and I've noticed some strong trends. (Of course, these could be due to the school itself, but given that they're much stronger than the trends that most schools have, I have a suspicion its tied up with the degree.)

There are some schools that absolutely hate us; Georgetown, Haverford and several others seem to hold a grudge against us. No one ever gets in. They've basically told our guidance counselor as much.

However, there are schools like UChicago, Williams, Swarthmore and Oberlin where our acceptance rate is double that of the nationwide rate.

AA degrees seem to be either cherished or hated.

I don't have an AA acutally. Its a AS, in Criminal Justice, with a certifcate in Computer Forensics.

Two Reasons
1. anti-semetism in my high school
2. the block system, only one AP a year :-(

Also, I was really really miserable in High School.

Georgetown? Thats so bad. That's my number one. But also, they have taken 3 kids from h.s that have done simaller things, to what I did. However, mine was completely independent, I enroled in an acutal degree program, and got things to work out myself.

they know that u r too good for them, so they rejected u, cause u'll probably get accepted to better schools......
this happened to a person i know

Improvements , you gonna be fine....There will be many universities interested in you...maybe Pitt and Mass are not but i?m sure there tons of universities that would enjoy your determination and your desire to learn.
I myself thought i was going to be turned down by most of universities i applyed but end up beeing accepted by all of them..

Well Villanova, and Provdience college rejected me
Syracuse waitlisted me.

Are those your only colleges so far with a rejection/waitlist? Maybe they thought that you were over qualified and instead admitted people who were more likely to come to the school. At least, that is definitely a possibility, from what I know. I've heard a few people get rejected from their safeties due to the fact that the applicant was probably not going to attend.

I doubt it, as I got rejected from Brown a few minutes ago. I am still holding out on small hope for GEORGETOWN.

Improvements:
You need to stop talking about the anti-sematism. kids'll make fun of ya for anything they can get on you. Im jewish too and in middle school i got some jew bashing but instead of avoiding the kids i decided to prove them wrong. I joined the football team and just acted like myself and now hang out with most of those guys. now I never hear anything about bein jewish.

anyways the point is sometimes you have to give a effort to fit in. Jews are always gonna be singled out and just have to be a good ambassador instead of avoiding conflict.

ps sorry about the rejections but someone like you has gotta get in somewhere.

Dubya-- I never tell people now, that I am Jewish. LOL. atleast not in real life. But acutally, it wasn't being teased, it was being threaten and being up on Hit-Lists in the boy's bathroom, and having a swatsticka that said death to the jews put on your deskand it wasn't just about me, it was about the school as whole, the schools adminstration REFUSED to do anything about it, and even worse than that it was filled with racism and homophobia, even more so than that.

I'm also Jewish, and have learned to live with the anti-semites in my school. You have to learn to just either ignore, or just proove them wrong. Hoenstly, if they believe in that ******** that aren't even worth your time. Don't indulge them by just leaving the situation.

We ended up filing with the DA's and DOE office! because the admistration refused do anything about all the $#$% that was going on! and because of my actions my school got programs, that helped combat the problems going on. You don't just ignore things when they aren't right, you gotta fight.

I wouldn't really call transferring out of the school a fight.
