Here's the thing. I'm an international undergraduate freshman and I'm currently applying to several colleges in the US.

As I am filling out my applications, I noticed all colleges require a STATEMENT OF FINANCIAL PROOF/or CERTIFICATE OF FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY from international students.

What exactly are these financial proofs?
Where should I start?
What are the procedures?

PLEASE help me out here! I haven't got a clue.

Any response will be truly appreciated. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Search each college’s site. All have the forms on their sites (usually somewhere in the international applicant section). It is form/statements needed for an F-1 Visa so you can be admitted entry into the US to attend college. Note if you are already in the US attending school on a Visa, you may not have to prepare them but college can tell you. Many colleges, and generally all public universities, do not provide need-based financial aid to internationals and thus the forms require you to show that you will have enough funds, either your own or from your parents to pay all costs, tuition, room and board, books, travel expenses etc. because that is what you need to show to get the Visa.

Generally, you have to show bank statements indicating that your family has the “Cost of Attendance” of a school in your bank acct and that the money is available for those school costs.

Getting an Ed visa is dependent on demonstrating that you can afford to be in the US for a year. The US doesn’t want int’ls coming here and then not have the money to support themselves and return home.
