Not only were the carriage rides a childhood memory for her, but that was Jack’s choice of activity when the family made their trip to NY. It was his way of making up for Rebecca missing the Met.
I agree with that. I think the NY guy was a temptation and had her thinking there was possibly something there. But then he made the statement about carriage rides and that was the end. She ended the evening right there. Maybe its why she ended up with Miquel. Needed to keep part of life with Jack in her life and he was a friend of Jack’s.
If I were Kate or Randall on that video chat, the first thing I would have said would have been, “Have you discussed the clinical trial with Miguel? What does Miguel think?” He’s the husband! Although they all need to collaborate, IMO the spouse is always central to the decision and is the key person after the patient herself. It also surprised me that Rebecca, after being approached about the trial by Randall, didn’t say, “My initial inclination is ‘no’ but I’ll talk it over with Miguel.”
Well, Miguel is still out of the loop! Not one of my favorite episodes.
I liked it - I feel like I understand Randall better. And I don’t like what I saw. But what a great storyline.
UGH, Double UGH.
So whose bed is grown up baby Jack at in the previews?
I can’t believe we’re up to the final episode. Randall is still not dealing with his need to take care of everything and control outcomes.
Good question. I paused the recording and looked long and hard but didn’t recognize the person. It didn’t look like either Rebecca or Kate.
@tx5athome - I am only guessing, but I wondered if it was his future wife? I didn’t get a good look either.
I did not care for last night’s episode at all.
I’m pretty sure that was baby Jack’s wife, as she was giving birth. (She did announce her pregnancy in a previous episode.) The preview made it seem ominous, like there were complications, but maybe that’s just to make us wonder.
I didn’t realize like last nights episode either. Yes, it gave us more insight into Randall but I wasn’t interested in watching all the ‘what if’ scenarios - it felt like such a waste of time to spend on what wasn’t reality.
My son is friends with the actor who plays grown-up baby Jack, so we were all excited to see him in the preview (haha, you should have seen/heard us watching this season’s first episode!). The preview also showed baby Jack’s first birthday party . . .and the show began on the Big Three’s and Jack’s birthday . . . so it will sure be something big.
I was interested to see that Kate had daughters and a husband with a clearly stated name in Randall’s alternative story. So, i bet we’ll see that guy again, someday.
Must say, I didn’t watch season 3 at all. . . kind of lost interest. But have been glued to this season in hopes of seeing our buddy. What hints from season 3 have borne fruit this year? Looks like I’ll have plenty of time to go back and watch it now
I thought they might make Kate thinner if the dad had survived. I always thought her weight was related to her being his favorite and then him passing away.
^^good point but I thought Kate’s weight wasn’t just about her being a favorite but that she begged her dad to go back into the burning house for the dog (or maybe just was frightened for her dog–don’t recall how it all went down). That would be a terrible burden for anyone to carry.
I believe Kate had weight issues as a child. But I admit that I also half-expected her to be slim I the alternate version, as well.
I liked really enjoyed this episode for something different!
Interesting to see the different opinions on this one. It was probably my least favorite episode that I can remember. And the funny thing is that the very recent Kevin episode with the baseball cards was one of my most favorite episodes.
Count me in on the people that didn’t like this episode. Randall is coming off as very unlikable thus far. Can’t believe that next week is the finale!
I didn’t catch his name; what was it?
I did like the episode. Yes, it showed a “less likeable” side of Randall, but don’t we all have those sides? The ones we show and the ones we don’t, either on purpose or subconsciously?
I also thought that it was fascinating (as the therapist mentioned) that both scenarios started with Rebecca’s confession about William. Somehow I doubt that, even if Jack had lived, this would have been at the front of Rebecca’s mind. She would have started rebuilding, rather than concentrating on William - if anything, she would have been obsessing over how the fire started and her inability to protect her family. And Randall is still idolizing Jack - IMO, Jack’s reaction to Rebecca’s “confession” is out of character. I don’t think Jack would have reacted the same way that Randall did. Of course, the scenarios are from Randall’s viewpoint.
Was Randall’s call to Rebecca about the drug trial during a scenario, or was it real? If it’s real, I think that will be why Kevin and Randall fall out - Kevin will not react well to Randall strong-arming Rebecca against her own judgment.
