“Seems like the leaving on opening night was not really a big deal - I’d think the show would be ruined after that.” - everything else I’ve been able to suspend my imagination for, but THIS was absolutely NOT one of them. I “suppose” an understudy would have filled in on opening night (even the smallest of productions have understudies who are just chomping at the bit to get their chance to shine) - but I cannot even fathom that barring an excuse to the producers of a “life or death” emergency that a principal actor could just disappear and reappear without being fired. And why, oh why, would Ron Howard take his niece to the “second opening night” – oy. This one was too clunky for me to swallow.
Ok, rant over.
Now…EVERY dang time they showed Jack I was certain he was going to die in the scene. That was a very stressful watch for me. I am not looking forward to that. At all.
Blue Hawaiians! Hilarious. I do love how they toss in these little modern notations of “real” life, but they seemed to revolve around William (his sexuality, his medical mj use). Now what?
^^Sterling K Brown has been working continuously as an actor since graduating from Tisch with his MFA in the early 2000s, both on stage and on screen. His excellent Emmy-winning performance as Christopher Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson was largely responsible for him being cast in This is Us.
I’m fine with the cliffhangar, because Jack was just so cute to look at in this episide. I loved his monologue, too. I felt like smacking Rebecca. Amazing how much older they can make him lookwith the scruff.
