Just to clarify, I’m still watching this season but it isn’t holding my interest the way it did last year.
^^Me, neither. It’s still better than what’s mostly out there, so I keep watching.
I’m watching MasrTerchef Canada, and taping the other.
Why??? If tonight doesn’t rip at your heart, I can’t imagine what will. Superb acting.
Sorry, but I’m sick of Kevin. This is the first episode that I actually fast forwarded through parts of it.
I believe the writing has gone down hill. Everything now is so dark.
I knew what happened as soon as I saw the name pop up on Kevin’s phone. I thought it was a good episode, but I don’t like Kevin.
I fell asleep after he showed up at his old HS . What happened?
I think I picked up on a little clue in this episode. Remember at the beginning when Jack was fiddling with the fuse box? Since that scene didn’t really have anything to do with the rest of the episode, it was definitely put in there for a purpose. I’m guessing that it has something to do with the fire that destroyed the house.
Good pick up, patsmom. We’ll have to see if that’s true.
The writers have never really known what to do with Kevin. He’s generally just a collection of dark cliches about actors, except few TV shows can really sustain unlikable characters, so every once in a while they give him some likable element that feels pasted on when it happens. I don’t really buy him as an actor, however. The actors I know are nothing like life-long golden boys who become actors only after their knees won’t let them be star quarterbacks.
That’s not a knock on the guy who plays Kevin. I think he does a good job, as does everyone on the show. He just doesn’t have enough to work with.
This episode was dark. I don’t like Kevin. I am so glad he slept with the plastic surgeon rather than the high school Sophie look-a-like. I am sad about the baby. Good pickup Patsmom!
I thought he picked the MD specifically for the drugs, though I thought he was going to ask her to prescribe some.
I thought he picked the MD to get away from the high school girl who asked him “to party”.
Tough bunch here. It is a TV show after all and still better than most. I have watched the Good Doctor as someone mentioned and while the acting is great, the story lines are not at all believable.
I was braced for hating this episode when it was going to be all about Kevin, but thought it was very well done and that it explained quite a bit about him. He has always landed on his feet, even when he was looking to get “punished” for messing everything up. Certainly, given Jack’s alcoholism, his addiction is plausible. Given he was a HS athlete, not a college or pro, not implausible he would become an actor. Remember, he found fame on a sitcom, not in a serious role.
I also was glad he picked the doctor, was a bit concerned that it was going to get really dark. It thought the teenage Kevin played the part superbly - the arrogance of the number 1 kid at home and at school.
Josh Duhamel was a college quarterback who became an actor.
So was Dean Cain.
Eddie George- pro football player now actor.
…and OJ Simpson became a TV star…of sorts.
Mark Harmon is likely the most well-known and most successful actor who was a college athlete. But, yes, it is unusual.
Two more episodes and that’s it for the fall. One focused on Kate and then the finale will be about Randall.
