This Is Us. Anyone watching?

Does anyone else think that baby Jack is the cutest baby ever? I tried to find a picture of him to send to my D17 at school because she had a rough day yesterday and she absolutely loves babies but couldn’t find any shots of him where you could see his face. Ok, now I feel like a crazy stalker but that is one cute baby!!

I think Chrissy will be gone by the time Rebecca dies. Remember Toby said Jack called and ‘They are on the way’? I wonder now if that may have been Jack and his wife.

I certainly don’t want to turn the thread into a tangent of Metz’s weight - but it is literally part of the story line at this time - the show could make it a non-issue/conflict - but they are also choosing to make it a topic.

It IS a topic. Besides that- there are a lot of things here on CC I wish we didn’t talk about all the time, but that’s just the way internet forums go! Her weight is a real issue for me and it’s part of the show. We talk about how cute everyone is and what good actors many of them are, so talking about her weight is also part of the deal.

It’s a part of the show, but some posters have gone to that well over and over. It’s fat shaming, and we wouldn’t allow bullying on any number of issues. This one feels like fair game.

It’s not fat shaming. It’s a real health concern. AND- it’s part of the story line.

Kevin and Nicky’s alcoholism is a real health concern, but no one is constantly talking about how they could suffer liver damage, etc. Or Toby being obese. It’s almost always Metz the actress and her weight. Go back to the last page of posts; there’s a string of them.

Kevin & Nicky are characters acting as alcoholics. Chrissy Metz is a real person who struggles with her weight beyond the role she plays. I doubt any of us who are uncomfortable with her weight would address that concern with her if we met her face to face. However, I think it’s a legitimate topic for discussion here because her extremely large size distracts from the character she plays into real life concern for her long term health.

The actress is a large woman playing a large woman. How does her appropriate size distract you from the character? It doesn’t distract me at all.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Since there is debate about whether the topic should be discussed, I’ll intercede and clarify.

Kate Pearson’s weight, as it relates to the storyline, is a valid discussion. What an actor, in this case Chrissy Metz, should do in her private life, is beyond the scope of this thread.

Sooo… I came over here to ask what the new post-stroke neighbor said when he and Kate were walking. He had earlier said he wasn’t very fast- but not to blink or she’d miss him (gotta love dry wit). So when she went out to walk Jack, she said she wasn’t very fast either. He replied, and I am guessing it was another tongue on cheek response, but I missed it. Does anyone know what he said?

Something like they’re the scariest gang in the 'hood?

On the block?

Thanks

“We’re gonna look like the toughest gang in this neighborhood,”

I didn’t catch that line, either, as well as few others. This show was one of my favorites, so I will watch it again. Nothing big happened, but lots of happy things happened. Just watching them laugh for a change was uplifting.

I liked the episode, too. Loved how Miguel managed to save Jack’s job! DH even got absorbed for a few minutes, and he’d sworn off the show.

I really liked last night’s episode.

I liked this episode, too. I loved the storyline with Kevin and Randall. It’s the first example of a dynamic that continued for the first few seasons in the adult timeline-- Kevin taking on the burden of coping with Randall’s panic attacks, despite their ordinarily fraught relationship. I’m glad they seem to have moved past this in the last season or two.

I think grown up Kevin is getting some more substance to his storyline this year.

My heart just ACHED for Randall! At first I thought Kevin was just going to hang up on him - very sweet that he went and took care of him.

Randall will never be able to “hear” and “do” for all his constituents but I love that he is trying and that he didn’t give up on his chief of staff. I loved when he said they weren’t there to climb a political ladder but to give and do now.
