Yeah, trick of the trade. In photo shoots, because the lights are hot, an ice cream cone is usually colored mashed potatoes. 
It made me nostalgic for the square ice cream cartons of my youth!
This is what you all got out of this episode - that the ice cream was really butter?! 
I loved seeing William again! And the whole story of Tess and her anxiety attack was pretty darn touching. Iām going to be a little concerned about Randall though and that heās setting himself up to crash.
I could NOT understand what it was Tess said that she tried to do - when she wanted to come out - there were a few words that were important - even though I rewinded the DVR a few times I couldnāt make out what she said! What had she intended to do?
@abasket - she said that some girl (donāt recall the name) asked her if she thought some guy (donāt recall his name either) was hot, and she said yes.

@abasket- she did say it fast, and kinda mumbled. But fortunately it was a clip in the commercials /lead in teasers this week so I heard it a few times!
I have this macabre theory of what happens with the vet and her dh and the kid. Maybe they die in a murder-suicide and somehow Kevin gets the kid. I donāt know why that idea came to me. i guess I just donāt see Kevin with her.
I think the dhās warning to stay away from his wife was menacing, even though Kevin made light of it. Seems like there is a likelihood of violence there.
I had to to rewind and turn on the closed captioning to read what she mumbled.
The ice cream moment between Nicky & Kevin was, for me, one of the most touching scenes in quite some time. Such a sweet moment of connection for them both!
Re: vet husband (canāt remember his nameā¦Chris?) When we first met him at the table doing bills and all he seemed like such a nice guy. Caring dad trying to take care of all the issues on the home front while his wife was away. These last couple of times he has seemed not just distanced from his wife butā¦distant and depressed or disturbed.
Will be curious to see what the record guys story turns out to be. He too is being painted as a caring guy - gave Kate a job, seems head over heels for her, even seems very cordial at the house - even though he seemed to just invite himself over!
āGrooming foreshadowingā? Really? Obviously, something traumatic is going to happen with college-age-Kateās boyfriend, since they didnāt live happily ever after, but I will be pretty upset if they turn Kate into a victim.
Yes, of all the casting coups on the show with young actors, the biggest one was finding an actress so perfect for young Beth that itās hard to remember thatās not really the same person at an earlier point in her life.
The only thing that bothers me about the younger Beth is that she seems a good bit more petite than the older actress. It would be interesting to see them stand side by side.
@MaineLonghorn I agree! I love young Beth, but she does seem very small compared to adult Beth.

^^^ Well look at Randall as a college freshman - he is no way the bulk of a guy that Randal is as an adult! Height, weight or build!

I think young Kate is great as well, although she is also seems much shorter than adult Kate.
I thought the scene with the vet husband and Kevin in the driveway was so interesting - Dave wasnāt scrolling the internet, he was distancing himself from what he believed ruined his wife. Cassidy seems to be much more together in recent episodes, compared to the first one.
Another good episode.
I wasnāt sure if I bought his story about using his phone to distance himself from the event. Mostly at this point Iām not sure what to believe from him. Maybe that was it. Maybe he was chatting with a lady friend. Maybe heās unstable enough that he also could not - like Nicky - handle being there. Is he mad at the armed service or is he just mad at her? He sure isnāt throwing any bones out at this time that he has any affection for her.
Again, none of our theories or opinions are wrong - they are all worthy of consideration! I love seeing how we all break down the scenes and āsupposeā.
