This is very sad...class of 2009, "For class of 2009, degree doesn’t mean a job"

For class of 2009, degree doesn?t mean a job - Reinventing America- msnbc.com

I think I am one for those, and I am planning to stay extra quarte at school to hit fall career fairs and company on campus recruitment.

I am from UCLA engineering major and not even one fifth of my classmates have a job right now, I wish all my best to brothers and sisters who are class of 09 and looking for job right now.

Good luck xx, and please keep us posted on your class.

Yah, I cannot count how many interviews I’ve gone into where the HR manager said, “If it were 2005, i’d extend you an offer the moment you walked in.” And its just ridiculous because my 4 internships were in finance. Everything else is even tougher for me to land, HR, Accounting etc. An MBA is definitely out of the question. And I can net interviews for financial positions more times over than any other division of a firm. I guess we all need to keep on trucking.

Twice I’ve made it to the 3rd round and was told the position was cut.

Its definitely time to be creative and utilize any and all resources.

I know a lot of people at Stanford (including myself) are sticking around for a year and doing a Masters degree. I think its already easier to get a job today in comparison to this time last year.
