This is WELCOME news!

Lets hope the discussion stays civilized and mature, supportive of those seeking a Christian education.

Why isn't there a "Jesuit Colleges" forum as well?

Don't you think the Jesuit colleges have enough in common with the "mainstream"/secular schools that they don't generate seperate "traffic" ?

this forum makes no sense.....lets have a jewish college section then

There are many more inquiries about Christian colleges than Jewish Colleges.

IIRC, the Protestants and Christian denominations have never been quite fond of the Roman Catholic Church.

Separate forums for Catholic (RC and Jesuit, etc.) and Christian colleges?
The Mormons have colleges too, don't they? BYU?

So there are less jews and therefore less questions about jewish colleges, it makes them less important. Hmm sounds like a possible discriminatory premise... In my opinion, its all stupid since they can ask in the general section, but if they do do it, it should be for everyone- Mormons, Catholics, Jesuits, Jews ect..

Doesn't really matter anyways, a good percentage of firms won't hire students from religon-based colleges anyways. Makes sense anyways.

jasoninpines, where did you see that? Is there a link? Hard to believe about Jesuit and Catholic schools. Not what I've heard abort Pepperdine; but none of those are what some mean by "Christian". If it WERE true, that's why I think a "Christian school" forum appeals to a different sort of applicant.

That's funny--I've never heard of anyone from Pepperdine, Vanderbilt, Wheaton, Notre Dame, et cetera having any problem getting a job...BYU either, for that matter.

I think it's better if you make the forum more broad to be like "Religious Affiliated Colleges" instead of just focused on "Christian Colleges". Besides, how many people here on CC are Chrisitans? Not many so this forum might be quite dead.

Firecube, why don't you start a petition to change it to religiously affiliated instead?

Again, there are plenty of people looking for religious colleges that aren't necessarily Christian and I don't see why they needed to narrow it down to exclusively Christian.

LOL. You can be as ridiculously sensitive as you'd like to be. Reality is a different story.

I was talking about schools more like liberty univ and trinity and such...they already have forums for schools like notes dame and pepperdine, as I was hardly talking about schools of that caliber

nocousin, so much for a discussion that stays civilized, mature, and supportive of a Christian education.

but it was a nice idea....

I would suggest that you don't complain unless YOU are looking for a religious affiliated college that isn't covered in this forum. Rather, you should be glad that forums you actually frequent aren't cluttered up with questions that are irrelevant to you.

I think this is unfair to support only one religion. Why not Jewish colleges? I know Brandeis is Jewish. Why no African American colleges like Morehouse or Howard University? Why CHRISTIAN? WASPs anyone????

Take a look at the variety of forums on CC. The reason there are subforums is because there are a lot of questions on those topics. It helps to organize things better, and makes it easier to find the information you're looking for. There are perennial questions here about Christian colleges, and not nearly so many about other religiously-affiliated schools. There are subforums on certain majors, and not others. Why? Because of the number of questions about some as opposed to others.

Actually Hunt, I was looking for a religious college (a Buddhist college awhile back) and never got any answers. Why should I receive not receive any answers because I don't have a forum? Why should Christians be any different than any other religion.

I don't understand how having a Religiously Affiliated College subforum would in any way take away from people finding Christian colleges. It would simply be a way for OTHER people looking for OTHER religions to also receive some help.

We are not having an uncivilized or immature discussion. We are simply voicing our opinions that Christians should be lumped together with all religiously affiliated colleges because people of other religions want help as well.

Simply put, you are much more likely to get info about a Buddhist college on a more general forum read by a lot of people, because it is an unusual question. Take a look at some of the forums for small colleges--for many, there is very little traffic, and people instead ask about them on the more general forums. That's because it would be rare for somebody to come on to the boards with a mind to providing advice about Dinkyville College.
