i was rumaging through the archives and found this wonderful post...

"Our daughter was accepted to Stanford yesterday, and I must say I like their acceptance envelope the best of any we've received so far - big ones from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Georgetown, and UChicago - 5 applications and 5 acceptances. Stanford's thick envelope was the best of all, because in bold face red letters reads "Congratulations!" No secrets hidden in that one. "

quite an arrogant mother who posted that...nevertheless, that is what the envelope looked like last year. if (when?) a plain white one shows up...oh boy...i don't know what i'm going to do...

Yeah, if I get a big thick envelope without any red letters on it, I'm throwing it out without looking at it. I bet Stanford will send out thick envelopes to everyone this year, and just have "Congratulations" on the acceptees. The rejects will get Harvard applications (that's where all of the Stanford rejects go anyway).

yeah that mom is so freakin arrogant, if you noticed, she posted in the rejections thread, when everyone else is trying to comfort those that just got rejected, she randomly jumps in and brags about all the acceptance letter her daughter got. What a bitch.

I can see saying that--I mean, it's true, and everyone would want people to know that if it were true about them--but in the REJECTIONS thread? Lame.

i duno, im sorta creeped out by most of the parents that lurk on this website. theyre nice, but i mean, where are their lives? its even a stretch for us to be here! ;)

me too!! My sister is in UMPTYUMP this math program at the U of MN. AND she carpools w/ a bunch of kids, and one of their dads was looking on here, and saw my post and asked me about it. It really weirded me out.

i just realized something very significant:

There is nothing I can do about my app. They will eventually send the decisions after 15th. I will most probably be rejected, so what's the point of wasting time here. I should work hard on the rest of my applications. So bye, see ya'll on the 15th. I'll come back to see if my proposed 60% CC acceptance rate was correct. Good luck everyone. You guys (and girls) are some of the brighest people in this country.

That's what the RD acceptance envelope looked like --> a full admissions packet The EA acceptance envelope MIGHT be a lot smaller and thinner. They won't need to send you the full packet (housing info, etc) until the spring.

How can Harvard kick west coast ass when many out of staters can't get into UCLA, but they can get into Harvard? That doesn't seem like a "ass beating" to me.

Also, Stanfurd doesn't represent the West Coast, nor does it represent California. In fact its painful to see our main Rival getting their asses handed to them by the Ivies, getting picked on like Bart Simpsons long lost brother. Only Cal gets to humiliate and beat up on Stanfurd got dammmit!

"How can Harvard kick west coast ass when many out of staters can't get into UCLA, but they can get into Harvard? That doesn't seem like a "ass beating" to me."

Because Harvard isn't required to take a certain number of in-state students! UCLA has a whopping 97 percent of Californians!

Paul- I wish I could leave, but I'm addicted and I can't now!
