This isnt a chance thread

yes it is!

Looking to transfer after 1 year at community college to NYU steinhardt for Music Technology. I plan on applying EA.

High School GPA was around 2.8 (yikes!)

currently doing much better in CC with a 3.8

sats: 1100 (NYU says they dont matter?)

EC's:

-4 years of HS jazz band

-Private study of guitar, bass, piano, and music theory.

-Record personal music using Midi and advanced audio software.

-Perform locally at well known jazz venues.

-Record local musicians using recording techniques and software.

I'm hoping my selling point will be my audition packet because I feel I can show them a lot (CD's I've recorded, my knowledge of music, ETC.)

do I have a snowballs chance in hell? or should I look in to other schools. thanks!

LOL i knew this was going to be a chance thread and i still clicked on it

theres no EA, unless im mistaken, just ED

im gonna be honest and say that you should look into other schools since your sat isnt up to the nyu standards. take that again, keep up the gpa, write killer essays, and get excellent recs. then if you apply ed id say you have a fair shot :)

they don't want to look at extra materials. they want to see what you can show them through your application and that is all. i don't think they even accept extra materials? you should check into that.

just apply. don't retake your SATs. but don't get your hopes up too high..
