this may sound like a stupid question but...

okay not i feel really stupid for asking this but...

in the princeton review book of 300 and something best colleges and universities, and online on www.review.com, they show the average GPAs of the students last admitted into the freshman class.
now are these GPAs weighted? i mean, how could you have a non-weighted GPA of 3.9 or 4.0 for a school. either im screwed, or the princeton review is not specifying clearly enough.

Many colleges recalculate gpas based on their own scales. They add extra weight to honors, AP, IB classes. They also attempt to make their schools seem as selective as possible so use whatever weighting scale will make their students seem most impressive.

okay, great! thats what i was hoping for.
thanks so much.
