This may sound like a weird admissions question....

As I am applying to ED this year to a college, I have inquired much information with college professors, adcoms, etc.. I have shown a great amount of interest. However, there may be one problem in a weird kind of way. The people I have spoken with and the organizations I plan on joining are all related to my ethnicity and background. That is, I only spoke to Asian professors in two subjects that I plan to major in and I spoke to only Asian club directors.

And in my "Why 'x' college" which everyone says is really really well written and demonstrates a strong interest, however, the specific examples and points I mention relate to all Asian-related activities and how I want to work with this x Asian professor. While colleges seek to bring a great amount of diversity to a school, could this be a negative thing? I mean I have demonstrated a lot of interest in different fields where I want to contribute - academics and arts, but I feel that it is "weird" (I hope thats the word...) that I state Asian names and organizations where I want to contribute to.

Any input?

Thanks.

any advice guys?

Why is that weird?

It sound weird in that I am pinpointing only aspects of my culture. Its weird explaining it but I suppose the fact that I am connecting with only people of my race at the university and kind of using them as ways to get into the university. Do you understand?

I don't think it's weird, any more then most of my stuff being American. If that is who you are, that is who you should put on the application. Don't try to make yourself into anyone that you aren't. The only risk you might possibly have is if they feel that you have segregated yourself from the world.
They shouldn't though, can't imagine they would do that with a math genius. Don't sweat it - just put it in.
