<p>I'm currently attending UC Berkeley as a freshman.</p>
<p>I've always wanted to stay in the east coast but somehow ended up here, which is precisely why i want to transfer.</p>
<p>My first term's courses were,
Econ 001 (intro to micro/macro economics)
Math 16B (Calc BC - probably easier level)
Chinese 1 A
Astronomy C 10 (intro to astronomy)</p>
<p>Ended up with 3 As and 1 B (in econ.... ugh), which brings me to a 3.75.</p>
<p>I had a 3.72 GPA in highschool and have a good amount of subject test scores and an SAT score of 2350. Decent/good extracurriculars. </p>
<p>I want to apply to harvard, yale (i know both of these don't really take transfer students), columbia, brown,williams, and Amherst. </p>
<p>What are my chances? and is it worth transferring?</p>
<p>kid you are crazy, stay where you are Cal is an amazing school. I go to uni in the Boston area and honestly it isn’t whats its cracked up to be i would give anything to go to a west coast school, the campus culture at Cal is so much better than any NE school. dude from one bro to the next stay where you are, the east coast is very “different” if your a west coaster like myself. i would give anything if i could go to a school back home on the west coast and thats why I’m planning on transfer to a west coast school. those schools that you listed man there so much different than the west coast, sure your grades are good but the kids at those schools are all so stuck up and preppy, Cal is so friendly and open and your not surrounded by a bunch of trust funders</p>
<p>If you weren’t accepted to these schools as a fr applicant w/ a 3.72 HS gpa and you now have 1 sem at college with a 3.75, your gpa is essentially the same. Unless you had a very strong upward trend the second half of sr yr in HS and got some big awards, etc. after decisions were made, there’s not a lot of change between your fr app and your transfer one. However, the one big change is the lower acceptance rates at all the schools you listed.</p>
<p>Not saying it isn’t possible, there was a transfer from Cal to Y a couple of years ago, but I don’t see anything compelling in what you’ve posted that would make you look like an outstanding candidate as a soph transfer to those schools.</p>
<p>What have you done in terms of ECs at Cal? You have the stats for consideration, but what you’ve done outside of the classroom is what will then drive an acceptance.</p>
<p>Who ever said these schools don’t like transfer students? You should just stay in Cali. And for the love of God don’t get upset about a B. Especially if it was at Berkeley. Also don’t let people on this site fool you into thinking you need to be perfect in everything because you don’t. Good luck in the future!!!</p>
<p>It’s not a matter of liking or not liking transfer students, the schools listed have extremely high retention rates, so they have very little room for transfer students.</p>
