should i retake to get the 2400?

Haha, good sense of humor, next time try to be less pretencious

I would honestly think you retarded if you are going to retake it.

what are you talking about halopeno2?

you said that you "weren't too satisfied"

If you are in anyway serious, and I was your parent/guardian, I would seek help for you

This is a joke, right? If not, I... I weep for you. I'm at a loss. I have no words.

no, this is not a joke. i really wanted a 2400. i am happy with a 2380. but my dad would buy me a new car if i earned it with a 2400 or a 36 on the act.

that is horrible parenting

what do you mean

What I mean is that incentives such as a new car for something as trivial as a perfect score on some test means that there should be college classes that teach parenting skills

ha sry gforce! honestly, you should be ecstatic and if your dad would do that, I still would say not to. You need to concentrate on school SAT IIs, the ACT, APs, ECs, etc rather than try and get a 2400 when you already have an amazing score of 2380! and you have a 1600/1600. Some school completely ignore the writing portion so techinically you did get a perfect score.

I have a friend who got a 2400 on the SAT I, he got a pat on the back from family and friends, then moved on with his life at Yale w/o the car and all with his own motivation

You need some serious ****ing help. And not with your test scores.

Definitely retake it. Forget the car that your dad would buy--if you don't score a 2400 next time, you're going to fail life!

Tell him he can keep the car if he gets a 2400.

Get off his dick guys, just take it again if you want the 2400 for the car.

And specify, that would be even more retarded than retaking a 2380...

If you got 690 on writing the first time, then 780 the next time... I wouldn't really expect you to get above 780 on a third try. Unless you can do something more to prepare for it.

I, too, think that it's pretty poor parenting to reward something as trivial as a 2400 with a new car. I mean, in the big scheme of things, or even in the medium-sized scheme of things, a 2400 means NOTHING. It doesn't even guarantee admissions at a top college. It has nothing to do with happiness or worth as a human being... and for that matter, neither do material objects like a new car. At least, not to me. I guess maybe some people are superficial enough to find happiness and meaning in life because of the things that they own. I object to parents encourage such superficiality in their children, however. I think parents who do so do their children a huge disservice.

Okay, that's enough of my diatribe against materialism.

Guess what I got when I got into Stanford? My dad said "Oh, that's great," and then bought me a jar of pickled herrings. I think later my grandparents took us out to dinner, but that might have been for my birthday. Anyway, I don't like pickled herrings (my dad ended up eating them himself) or restaurant dinners. :p

I got to choose what my parents cooked for dinner when I found out I had won a National Merit Scholarship. I was pretty happy about that. That's like, a big privilege around my house, normally reserved for birthdays only. :D

Listen, you can retake if you really want. But if I were in your position, I would never advertise a 2380 as "unsatisfactory," whatever the reason.

Oh my G-d! Oly a 2380? You're a loser at life. I'm glad I'm not your dad!

just convince your dad that a 2380 is more or less statistically the same as a 2400 so you should just get the car anyway

go to the SAT preparation forum, they understand
